Introduction Brown and beige adipocytes are key regulators of systemic energy balance and metabolic homeostasis through their capacity for adaptive thermogenesis and metabolic remodeling. In contrast to energy-storing white adipocytes, brown and beige adipocytes dissipate energy as heat and contribute to whole-body energy expenditure.
[18F]FDG PET/CT imaging in hyperthyroid myopathy presenting initially as myasthenia: a case report
Introduction Thyroid disease is one of the etiologies of myopathy. When muscle dysfunction occurs in the presence of overt thyroid disease, the diagnosis is usually straightforward; however, in a small proportion of patients, myopathy may be the initial manifestation of an underlying thyroid disorder (1). The clinical presentation of hyperthyroid myopathy can resemble that of other inflammatory myopathies and neurological diseases, yet the prognosis may be unfavorable.
