Time or money? The effect of karma beliefs on consumer donation form preference
Abstract Charitable giving is commonly studied in terms of whether and how much individuals donate. However, this focus implicitly assumes that different resources are morally interchangeable, overlooking a more fundamental question: in what form people choose to give. Drawing on social exchange theory and cultural psychology, this research examines how belief in karma shapes individuals’ preferences for donating time versus money.
Systematic review and meta-analysis of machine learning-based prediction models for readmission risk after total hip and knee arthroplasty
Abstract Background: Postoperative readmission is a critical metric after total hip and knee arthroplasty (THA/TKA). While machine learning (ML) models for predicting readmission risk are proliferating, the stability of their performance and the robustness of their methodology remain contentious. This study aimed to systematically review and quantitatively synthesize the evidence base for ML-based readmission prediction after THA/TKA.
Long-term dynamic characteristics and cumulative strain prediction modeling of round gravel foundation under cyclic subway loading
Abstract A series of saturated undrained dynamic triaxial tests were carried out by using DYNTTS large-scale triaxial cyclic test system to investigate the long-term dynamic characteristics and cumulative strain evolution of round gravel foundation under cyclic subway loading. The influence mechanisms of relative density, confining pressure and dynamic stress amplitude on the long-term dynamic characteristics and cumulative deformation of round gravel were systematically investigated.

Bonding performance of polymer waterproof coating and expansive soil
Abstract To investigate the bonding performance between polymer waterproof coating (PWC) and expansive soil, 40 groups of expansive soil pull-out tests under different working conditions were carried out in this study. The variables considered included soil water content (12–27%), soil density (1.6–2.0 g/cm3), and PWC coating thickness (0.8–1.5 mm). The effects of these factors on bonding performance were systematically analyzed and discussed.

ZBTB11 depletion targets metabolic vulnerabilities in KRAS inhibitor-resistant PDAC - Nature Chemical Biology
Abstract Over 95% of pancreatic ductal adenocarcinomas (PDACs) harbor oncogenic mutations in KRAS. However, upon treatment with KRAS inhibitors, PDAC cells undergo rapid metabolic reprogramming toward an oxidative phosphorylation (OXPHOS)-dependent, drug-resistant state. Here, we demonstrate that this metabolic shift is associated with upregulation of the transcription factor ZBTB11 and both the metabolic state and resistance to KRAS inhibitors can be attenuated by ZBTB11 depletion.
Atf3 + senescent chondrocytes mediate meniscus degeneration in aging - Arthritis Research & Therapy
To investigate the histological and cellular changes in aging knee joints, we performed a comprehensive histological assessment in both aging mice and rats. Safranin O/Fast Green staining of articular cartilage revealed chondrocyte degeneration in aged rats joints compared to young controls, with higher Osteoarthritis Research Society International (OARSI) scores (Fig. 1A, C). Hematoxylin and Eosin (H&E) staining further indicated synovial hyperplasia in aged rats.
Molecular Engineering of 1D Conjugated Copper Anilate Coordination Polymers for Boosting Electrocatalytic Nitrate Reduction to Ammonia
Molecular Engineering of 1D Conjugated Copper Anilate Coordination Polymers for Boosting Electrocatalytic Nitrate Reduction to Ammonia The electrochemical nitrate reduction reaction (NO3RR) offers a “two-birds-one-stone” solution by simultaneously addressing water pollution and enabling green ammonia production. However, its multiple reaction pathways and complex intermediates pose a challenge for designing high-efficient electrocatalysts.

Upon treatment with K-Ras inhibitors, PDAC cancer cells undergo metabolic reprogramming towards an oxidative phosphorylation-dependent, drug-resistant state. However, direct inhibition of complex I is poorly tolerated in patients due to on-target induction of peripheral neuropathy.

High-quality and robust protein quantification in large clinical/pharmaceutical cohorts with IonStar proteomics investigation - Nature Protocols
Abstract Robust, reliable quantification of large sample cohorts is often essential for meaningful clinical or pharmaceutical proteomics investigations, but it is technically challenging. When analyzing very large numbers of samples, isotope labeling approaches may suffer from substantial batch effects, and even with label-free methods, it becomes evident that low-abundance proteins are not reliably measured owing to unsufficient reproducibility for quantification.

Co‐circulation of coronavirus and avian influenza virus in wild birds in Shanghai, 2020-2021
Abstract Co-infection of SARS-CoV-2 and influenza viruses has been reported worldwide in humans. Wild birds are natural reservoir hosts for coronaviruses (CoVs) and avian influenza viruses (AIVs). It is unknown whether co-infection with these two types of viruses occurs in wild birds. In this study, the prevalence of co-infection with CoV and AIV in wild birds in Shanghai, China during 2020–2021, was investigated by detecting these viruses in cloacal, tracheal, and fecal samples.

The psychological typhoon eye effect during the COVID-19 outbreak in China: the role of coping efficacy and perceived threat
Abstract Background The influence of COVID-19 on mental health problems has received considerable attention. However, only a few studies have examined the relationship between exposure to COVID-19 and mental health problems, and no empirical study has tested the mechanisms between them. Methods We conducted a survey in 31 provinces of China during 3–13 March 2020 to test the effect of the exposure level on mental health problems.

A self-supported hierarchical Co-MOF as a supercapacitor electrode with ultrahigh areal capacitance and excellent rate performance
Metal–organic frameworks (MOFs) have emerged as attractive electrode materials for applications in energy storage and conversion, owing to their high porosity and surface area. In this communication, we report a hierarchically structured Co-MOF supported on nickel foam (Co-MOF/NF) serving as a high-performance electrode material for supercapacitors.
