Single-crystalline CoSi semimetals with high conductivity and reliability
Abstract As the size of state-of-the-art copper interconnects shrinks to the nanoscale, carrier scattering greatly increases their resistance, causing signal delay and reliability issues. Alternative conductors are therefore needed to sustain interconnect scaling beyond conventional charge-transport mechanisms. Here we demonstrate CoSi semimetal for highly scalable, conductive and reliable interconnects.

A novel prognostic signature based on mitochondrial permeability transition-driven necrosis genes for biochemical recurrence prediction in prostate cancer
Abstract Background: Mitochondrial permeability transition-driven necrosis (MPT-DN) is a therapeutic target and critical driver of prostate adenocarcinoma (PRAD) progression. We investigated MPT-DN-related prognostic features in PRAD. Methods: PRAD transcriptomics and MPT-DN-RGs were sourced from public databases. WGCNA, differential expression, Cox regression, and machine learning identified BCR-FS prognostic genes. These genes built a risk model, revealing independent prognostic factors.

Magnetic field measurement with temperature compensation based on a fiber ring microwave photonic filter and Vernier effect
We proposed, a novel, to the best of our knowledge, magnetic field measurement with temperature compensation based on a fiber ring microwave photonic filter (FR-MPF) and a Vernier effect. The sensing head is made up by attaching the fiber Bragg grating (FBG) on the magnetostrictive material. Based on the wavelength division multiplexing, two FR-MPFs with different optical carriers can eliminate the influence of the temperature.

Highly sensitive torsion sensor based on a coupled optoelectronic oscillator incorporating nonlinear polarization rotation
We propose and demonstrate a new, to the best of our knowledge, technique to implement a high-speed and highly sensitive torsion sensor based on a coupled optoelectronic oscillator (COEO) incorporating nonlinear polarization rotation (NPR). The COEO consists of a mode-locked laser loop and an OEO loop. In the laser loop, the NPR effect effectively induces intensity- and wavelength-dependent loss, which acts as a Lyot birefringent fiber filter.

Animals | Free Full-Text | Effect of a High-Starch or a High-Fat Diet on the Milk Performance, Apparent Nutrient Digestibility, Hindgut Fermentation Parameters and Microbiota of Lactating Cows
Abstract : Simple Summary Fat content is critical to milk quality, health and economic value. Fat content can be affected by diet composition. Diet-induced milk fat depression (MFD) is a specific reduction in milk fat synthesis caused by feeding cows high contents of rapidly fermentable carbohydrates or polyunsaturated fatty acid (PUFA). However, the mechanisms involved in MFD have not been fully elucidated and substantial controversy remains.

The Effect of Capsaicin on Growth Performance, Antioxidant Capacity, Immunity and Gut Micro-Organisms of Calves
Abstract : Simple Summary Pre-weaned calves have immature immune systems, lack immunocompetence, and often suffer from stress and disease. Diarrhea is a common disease in nursing calves. Antibacterials are widely used in calf production as a common treatment for diarrhea. However, the extensive use of antibacterials can lead to the development of drug-resistant pathogens and endanger public health and safety.

High-Dose Vitamin E Supplementation Can Alleviate the Negative Effect of Subacute Ruminal Acidosis in Dairy Cows
Abstract : Simple Summary This experiment was conducted to investigate the effects of a high-dose vitamin E (VE) supplementation on rumen microorganisms and the blood metabolites of subacute ruminal acidosis (SARA) induced by a high-grain diet in dairy cows, and to explore the mechanism of action through the combined analysis of the microbiome and metabolome. Our studies indicate that a high dose of VE can alleviate a series of adverse effects caused by SARA.
What stock price reactions to the Russia-Ukraine war tell us about
What stock price reactions to the Russia-Ukraine war tell us about the energy transition Is the geopolitical crisis due to the Russian invasion of Ukraine likely to accelerate or retard the transition to a low-carbon economy? This column argues that stock prices reactions offer a preview of the future economic impact of the Russia-Ukraine war. These reactions suggest that the speed of transition to a low-carbon economy appears to be diverging between the US and Europe.
Perovskite-Type 2D Materials for High-Performance Photodetectors
Photodetectors are light sensors in widespread use in image sensing, optical communication, and consumer electronics. In current smart optoelectronic technology, conventional semiconductors have encountered a bottleneck caused by inflexibility and opacity. With the ever-increasing demands for versatile optoelectronic applications, perovskite-type 2D materials demonstrate great potential for advanced photodetectors inspired by molecularly thin 2D materials.
Enhanced sensitivity of optical fiber vibration sensor based on radio-frequency Michelson interferometer
Abstract We propose and demonstrate a new scheme for enhancing the sensitivity of an optical fiber vibration sensor based on microwave interferometry, which is realized by an incoherent optical Michelson interferometer (MI). The sensing arm of the MI is sensitive to environmental vibration; this will cause changes in the phase of the reflection spectra in the microwave domain.
Growth retardation-responsive analysis of mRNAs and long noncoding RNAs in the liver tissue of Leiqiong cattle
Abstract As an important type of non-coding RNA molecule, long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) have varied roles in many biological processes, and have been studied extensively over the past few years. However, little is known about lncRNA-mediated regulation during cattle growth and development. Therefore, in the present study, RNA sequencing was used to determine the expression level of mRNAs and lncRNAs in the liver of adult Leiqiong cattle under the condition of growth retardation and normal growth.
Chemically modified curcumin (CMC2.24) alleviates osteoarthritis progression by restoring cartilage homeostasis and inhibiting chondrocyte apoptosis via the NF-κB/HIF-2α axis
Abstract The disorders of cartilage homeostasis and chondrocyte apoptosis are major events in the pathogenesis of osteoarthritis (OA). Herein, we aim to assess the chondroprotective effect and underlying mechanisms of a novel chemically modified curcumin, CMC2.24, in modulating extracellular matrix (ECM) homeostasis and inhibiting chondrocyte apoptosis. Rats underwent the anterior cruciate ligament transection, and medial menisci resection was treated by intra-articular injection with CMC2.24.
Reconfigurable multifrequency and wide-angle directional beaming of light from a subwavelength metal slit with graphene metasurfaces
Abstract Directional beaming of light from a subwavelength slit surrounded with phase-gradient metasurfaces can be realized with very high efficiencies, but the available optical proposals suffer from narrow bandwidth after the fabrication process and cannot be reconfigured dynamically with switchable frequencies. Here we demonstrate reconfigurable multifrequency directional beaming by placing a graphene ribbon array at two sides of a subwavelength metallic slit.
Graphene-based meta-coupler for direction-controllable emission of surface plasmons
Abstract Gradient metasurfaces have offered a promising approach to achieve high-efficiency conversion between surface plasmons (SPs) and propagating waves (PWs), and hence have found numerous applications in photonics. However, the available SP-PW couplers lack flexibility for active control, which limits their use in practice.
All-inorganic CsPbBr3 perovskite quantum dots as photoluminescent probe for ultrasensitive Cu2+ detection
Pollutions triggered by highly toxic heavy metal ions have become a worldwide concerned issue, and have aroused increasing research interests, but it is still a challenge for their trace detection in organic phase using inorganic fluorescent colloidal nanocrystals (NCs). Herein, we report the fully inorganic CsPbBr3 perovskite quantum dots (PQDs), which were synthesized via hot-injection method, as fluorescent probe for selective detection of copper ions in hexane.
