Connecting single-cell transcriptomes to projectomes in the mouse visual cortex
Abstract The mammalian brain consists of diverse neuron types with various functions. Recent single-cell RNA sequencing approaches have led to a whole-brain taxonomy of transcriptomically defined cell types1. Patch-seq experiments augment these cell-type descriptions by linking transcriptomic profiles with local morphological and electrophysiological properties2,3,4,5,6,7. However, linking transcriptomic identities to long-range axonal projections remains a major unresolved challenge.
A suite of enhancer AAVs and transgenic mouse lines for genetic access to cortical cell types

Keywords epigenetics transcriptomics enhancer cell type neocortex AAV transgenic recombinase mouse human Introduction To understand how the brain works, we need to establish the structure-function relationships between the units that comprise it and the outputs of its activity.1 One approach is to gain experimental access to each building block (e.g., a cell type) and manipulate it to observe effects on an animal’s physiology and behavior.2,3,4 Historically, the definition of building blocks...

Community, Inclusivity, Adaptability, and Integrity - Book Business
In today's post, Alice Meadows talks to Randy Townsend and Miranda Walker about the recent work they led to identify and articulate SSP's core values, and how they'll be embedded in the society's future activities. The post Community, Inclusivity, Adaptability, and Integrity appeared first on The Scholarly Kitchen.
Community, Inclusivity, Adaptability, and Integrity
Like most mission-driven organizations, values are very important to the Society for Scholarly Publishing (SSP). However, we have never actually articulated what those values are! So, when we decided that the Board should revisit our strategic goals last summer, I was also keen that we should take this opportunity to define our values and ensure that our goals align with them — now and in the future.
Community Reflections: Takeaways from the Diversity Sessions at SSP’s 43rd Annual Meeting Part 1
Over the past several years, the Society for Scholarly Publishing (SSP) has deepened its commitment to advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI, EDI, or DEIA — to include accessibility) efforts across scholarly publishing. One of the outcomes has been to increase the DEI content at the Annual Meeting; for example, at least one of the Annual Meeting keynote speakers has addressed these critical issues for the last four years.

Collective Voices: The Society for Scholarly Publishing Joins in Making a Statement Against Racism in America
Editor’s Note: This post was authored by Miranda Walker and Randy Townsend, in collaboration and with the full support of SSP President Lauren Kane. The SSP Statement that follows was authored and endorsed by the SSP Board of Directors and Co-Chairs of the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee. On May 25, 2020, a 46-year-old Black man was held down by the knee of a Minneapolis police officer for 8 minutes and 46 seconds, while three other officers stood by.
