Immunoinformatics design and in vitro evaluation of dendritic cell-targeting brucellosis multi-epitope vaccine based on Omp28 and GroEL
Abstract Brucellosis is a zoonotic infectious disease caused by bacteria of the genus Brucella, with an estimated global annual incidence of approximately 2.1 million cases. Currently, there is no safe and effective human vaccine available. Utilizing a reverse vaccinology strategy, this study screened 16 cytotoxic T lymphocyte epitopes, 10 helper T lymphocyte epitopes, and 3 B cell epitopes derived from Brucella Omp28 and GroEL proteins.
Chang’e-6 samples reveal a form of magnetic iron never before found on the Moon
Tiny spheres of iron trapped inside glass from the Moon’s far side may contain a previously unrecognized record of ancient lunar magnetism. Researchers examining soil returned by China’s Chang’e-6 mission have identified γ-iron, or gamma iron, in natural lunar material for the first time. Unlike the common form of metallic iron found on the Moon, this crystal structure normally survives only at high temperatures and should transform as it cools.

In the version of the article initially published, Huijue Jia’s name appeared incorrectly (as Huijie) and has now been corrected. Additionally, in Fig. 5b, a section of the circle markers had shifted out of place and has now been corrected (as seen in Fig. 1). These corrections have been made to the HTML and PDF versions of the article. Fig. 1 Original and corrected Fig. 5b.

Electrically programmable polariton symmetry breaking via non-Hermitian dissipation engineering
Abstract The optical response of natural materials is constrained by crystal symmetry, limiting the design of reconfigurable nanophotonic devices. Here we demonstrate the electrically programmable symmetry breaking of phonon polaritons via non-Hermitian dissipation engineering. In a heterostructure composed of α-MoO3 and aligned carbon nanotubes (A-CNTs), we identify the A-CNT layer as an anisotropic dissipative medium.
The universe still has plenty of hydrogen, so why is it making fewer stars?
Cosmic star formation has fallen by a factor of about 2.46 over the past 4.5 billion years, but the density of neutral atomic hydrogen has declined far less. FAST and DESI observations of roughly 2.5 million galaxies show that galaxies have retained much of their atomic gas even as the universe became less efficient at producing stars.
50-year hunt for glueballs closes in on mysterious X(2370) particle
Physicists say the mysterious X(2370) particle contains the strongest evidence yet for a glueball, an exotic state made predominantly from gluons. Its mass, quantum properties, unusual decay behavior and lack of clear quark flavor all match major predictions for the lightest pseudoscalar glueball. The evidence is unusually comprehensive, but researchers still want more decay measurements to determine how much ordinary quark matter may be mixed into X(2370).

Genomic landscape of the human vaginal microbiome is linked to host genetics and population of origin

Abstract The vaginal microbiome is essential for women’s health, yet its genomic diversity and interaction with the host remain incompletely characterized. Here we present the Global Vaginal Metagenome-assembled Genomes catalog, an extensive repository of vaginal microbial genomes generated by integrating 10,665 in-house Chinese metagenomes, with 2,967 publicly available metagenomes and 1,433 bacterial isolates.

Polyfluorophenyl quinoxaline derived acceptors with long exciton diffusion length for efficient thin-film/thick-film organic solar cells
Abstract Designing small-molecule acceptors (SMAs) with long exciton diffusion length (LD) and high electron mobility is vital for boosting power conversion efficiency (PCE) of organic solar cells (OSCs). However, the limited LD of most advanced SMAs hinders their practical applications in thick-film OSCs. Herein, we develop four SMAs (named Yq-0F, Yq-2F, Yq-4F, and Yq-6F) with fluorine-free/fluorinated phenyl-substituted quinoxaline cores by manipulating the number of fluorine atom.

Tailoring Preservation to Form: A Comparative Review of Postharvest Technologies for Three Types of Fresh Walnuts
1 Introduction With the rise in modern living standards, urban populations have developed a growing appreciation for the nutritional and health benefits of walnuts. Fresh walnuts, with their distinctive advantages, have gained favor among young urban consumers (Ayaz Mukarram et al. 2024; Wei et al. 2022).
The Impact of Emotional Induction by Robot Salespersons on Consumers’ Purchase Intention
Abstract Service robots are increasingly used in retail and service contexts, yet how emotional cues influence consumer decisions when the salesperson is a robot remains underexplored. Using a between-subjects experiment that manipulated emotional induction and salesperson type (human vs. robot), this study examined the effect of emotional induction on purchase intention, the mediating role of perceived emotions, and the moderating role of salesperson type.
Spi-1 proto-oncogene regulates mRNA hypertranscription and malignant progression in head and neck cancer
Abstract Head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC) is one of the most prevalent and lethal cancers worldwide. Despite multimodal therapeutic advances, long-term survival remains poor, underscoring the need to identify novel molecular drivers of disease aggressiveness. Hypertranscription is a genome-wide increase in total RNA output that has emerged as a hallmark of oncogenic transformation.
High-frequency optical fiber vibration sensing system for micro-nano displacement measurement
This paper presents a fiber Fabry–Perot (F-P) cavity-based method for high-frequency micro–nano vibration displacement sensing, which can be integrated for high-frequency acoustic atomic force measurement. The F-P cavity is formed between a flat-ended fiber and the device under test. A local linear operating region of a single F-P interference fringe, corresponding to a phase variation of approximately $2\pi /3$, is exploited for displacement calibration and demodulation.

Boundary-induced excitation of higher-order hyperbolic phonon polaritons - Nature Photonics
Abstract Higher-order hyperbolic phonon polaritons (HoHPhPs), arising from photon–phonon coupling under geometric confinement and resonance conditions, exhibit larger wavevectors, field confinement and tunability compared with fundamental hyperbolic phonon polariton (HPhP) modes, making them promising for compact nanophotonic devices. However, their excitation remains challenging due to stringent momentum compensation requirements, leaving their properties and applications largely unexplored.

Flatland wakes based on leaky hyperbolic polaritons - Nature Materials
Abstract Hyperbolic polaritons facilitate nanoscale light manipulation, but strong field confinement limits their transmission across interfaces. Conversely, leaky waves can convert radiation from confined sources towards the far field. Here we combine hyperbolic polaritons and leaky wave radiation to demonstrate flatland leaky polaritonic wakes. We employ a mixed-dimensional van der Waals heterostructure consisting of a nanoscale waveguide strip on a van der Waals film.

Isolation and Identification of Some Crude Oil‐Degrading Bacterial From Soil Contaminated With Crude Oil
1 Introduction The issue of pollution caused by petroleum hydrocarbons and its impact on soil and aquatic ecosystems is a serious global challenge. Pollution from petroleum hydrocarbons poses a significant threat to the health of all living organisms and due to their persistent and long-lasting characteristics is classified as a priority and emerging pollutant [1]. The solid materials present in petroleum compounds increase the salinity in aquatic and soil environments.

A practical fluorometric and colorimetric dual-mode sensing platform based on two-dimensional porous organic nanosheets for rapid determination of trifluralin† Trifluralin, a widely used dinitroaniline herbicide, poses significant toxic risks, necessitating the development of rapid detection methods for food safety. In this study, we prepared ultrathin two-dimensional triphenylamine porous organic nanosheets (TPA-PONs) through a facile liquid-phase exfoliation process.
