Ursodeoxycholic acid enhances cancer radioimmunotherapy by releasing a human-biased FXR-TRIM22-STAT1 immune brake
Abstract Radiotherapy is a fundamental modality in cancer treatment, used in the management of more than half of cancer patients. Beyond direct cytotoxicity, ionizing radiation activates innate immune pathways and inflammatory cytokines required for local tumor control and systemic (abscopal) responses. Yet in human tumors, DNA damage-induced immune activation is attenuated compared with the robust responses observed in mice, suggesting a human-biased checkpoint that constrains radioimmunity.
MXene/graphene composite flexible impedance glove with wide linear range for cross-subject gesture recognition
|
Abstract With the continuous evolution of human-machine interaction (HMI) technologies, natural and intuitive gesture recognition has emerged as a pivotal interaction modality. However, constrained by inter-individual differences in hand dimensions and wearing habits, existing gesture recognition techniques still suffer from limited generalization performance in cross-subject recognition.

A prefrontal cortex-piriform cortex circuit mediates diminished interest
Abstract Diminished interest constitutes a core behavioral deficit across multiple neuropsychiatric conditions, yet its neural mechanism remains poorly understood. Here, we identify projection-biased and transcriptionally distinct subsets of glutamatergic neurons in the ventromedial prefrontal cortex (vmPFC) that preferentially innervate the anterior piriform cortex (APC) and posterior piriform cortex (PPC).
A conserved hexapeptide switch controls autoinhibition of plant cytosolic invertases
Abstract Cytosolic invertases (CINVs) are essential for plant sugar homeostasis, growth and development, yet their enzymatic regulation remains unclear. Here we show that land plant CINV enzymes are tightly autoinhibited via synergistic actions of their N- and C-termini on the central catalytic GH100 domain. A conserved C-terminal hexapeptide functions as a dual switch: an intrinsic ‘brake’ that inhibits GH100 and an ‘accelerator’ that recruits 14-3-3 activators upon phosphorylation.

Structural basis for a root silicon-based barrier against cadmium, chromium, and salt stress in plants
Introduction Plants inevitably encounter a range of abiotic stresses during their growth. Silicon (Si) has demonstrable benefits for plants in terms of resisting these stresses (Cooke & Leishman, 2016; Thorne et al., 2020) and Si-accumulators cope with soil-based stresses such as toxic metal and salt stress by forming Si-based defense barriers (Liang et al., 2007; Ranjan et al., 2021; Asgher et al., 2024; Pang et al., 2024a).
Pyruvate metabolism enzyme Dlat induces mitochondria protein hyperacetylation to limit fatty acid oxidation in the HFpEF heart
Abstract Increased protein acetylation is frequently observed in the failing heart, including in hearts with heart failure with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF). However, its role in the pathogenesis of HFpEF remains insufficiently investigated. Here, we found that HFpEF hearts displayed significantly protein hyperacetylation, which were predominantly localized to mitochondria and particularly enriched in fatty acid oxidation (FAO) pathway.

ONO-Cobalt Catalyzed Reduction of Sulfoxides to Sulfides with Poly(methylhydrosiloxane) as the Deoxygenation Reagent
Herein the cobalt-catalyzed reduction of sulfoxides to sulfides with a well-defined tridentate tetrahydroquinolin-8-one-2-carboxamide (ONO)–cobalt complex as the precatalyst is reported. Inexpensive poly(methylhydrosiloxane) (PMHS) is used as the reductant. This newly developed catalytic system is applied successfully to a broad range of substrates, including diaryl, aryl alkyl, and dialkyl sulfoxides as well as cyclic sulfoxides, and accordingly delivered diverse sulfides in high yields.

Impact of Spatial Distribution Methods for Rainfall on Flash Floods Modelling Using a Hydrodynamic Model
1 Introduction Flash floods are a major natural disaster worldwide (Khajehei et al. 2020). Due to the rapid occurrence and evolution of a flash flood, there is limited time to implement effective mitigation measures, leading to high loss of life and property damage (Ritter et al. 2020). Moreover, the frequency of these types of events has been increasing due to climate change (Fischer and Knutti 2016; Blöschl et al. 2019; Tabari 2020).
