Willie Nelson famously said, “There are two kinds of men in this world … those who have a crush on Linda Ronstadt ... and those who have never heard of her”. The first words I spoke to Linda Ronstadt were these; “Why did you open for Jackson Browne? You are the bigger star”. The first words Linda Ronstadt spoke to me shaking her head were, “Oh. Jackson would never have a girl be the bigger act”. She had just sat down next to me on a bed in a hotel room in Denver.

OUR COOKING CLASSES

Over the past months the number of our cooking classes have been accelerating. April has been a whirlwind! And we love it. An aspect of them that is different from the years we were operating out of a brick-and-mortar place in Wynwood named, “In the Kitchen with Norman Van Aken” is that the cooking classes now have been in various locations we have been invited to instruct at. Last week we were in a large, high-end Orlando hotel offering many amenities and an immense capacity for convention groups.

In the years before stardom came a young, bespectacled Hank Williams played on the streets of Montgomery, Alabama I’ve loved music even longer than I’ve loved words. I think most of us have. We don’t need to learn anything to listen to music it could be reasoned. But you need to learn to listen. The world around us is filled with music. The susurrations of a breeze rustling trees, a city’s syncopated traffic, a lone saxophone player heard from an unseen window.
