REPORT: MSU AD J Batt has emerged as the target for Kentucky’s Athletic Director search

EAST LANSING, Mich. (News 10) - According to ESPN’s Pete Thamel, Michigan State Athletic Director J Batt has emerged as the target for the same position at Kentucky. The deal hasn’t been finalized by the two parties, but Kentucky is trying to bring Batt back to the SEC. Michigan State President Kevin M. Guskiewicz recently announced his decision to leave MSU for Clemson, which cut Batt’s contract buyout in half from $5 million to $2.5 million.

Williamston baseball coach Ryan Orr steps down after four seasons

WILLIAMSTON, Mich. (News 10) - After four successful seasons leading the Williamston baseball program, coach Ryan Orr is stepping down from his position. At just 30 years old, Orr leaves behind one of the most successful coaching runs in program history. While his future may still include a return to coaching someday, Orr says his current focus is on spending more time with his young family. During his four seasons at the helm, Orr guided the Hornets to an impressive 109-31 overall record.

Grass Lake and Fowler softball advance to the state semifinals

LANSING, Mich. (News 10) - News 10 was at two state quarterfinals games for high school softball on Tuesday morning. Grass Lake only had two hits but scored on three wild pitches and a bases-loaded HBP in the top of the seventh inning in order to beat Ottawa Lake Whiteford 4-3. The Warriors are headed back to Michigan State to play in the semifinals on Friday at 10 a.m. against Evart.
