FRIDAY: Another round of high heat and humidity as we near the holiday weekend. Highs will climb into the middle to upper 90s; ‘feels like’ temperatures between 105-109 for many areas. As you’ve done - try to limit afternoon time outdoors, take breaks and drink plenty of water. A few widely spaced showers and storms may develop during the afternoon and early evening. Lows fall into the middle to upper 70s.

THURSDAY: A FIRST ALERT WEATHER DAY is in place for a combination of recent power outages and the impending heat. Heat continues to be oppressive as the week wears on., Highs will climb into the middle to, a few, upper 90s. This coupled with the elevated humidity push ‘feels like’ temperatures may reach 105 - 110 degrees during the afternoon. A few hit-or-miss storms may pop up - though, many hours and areas will stay dry.

WEDNESDAY: More of the same - hot and humid - with highs in the middle 90s; some spots reaching the upper 90s. ‘Feels like’ temperatures will top out between 105 – 109º, Spotty downpours could develop during the afternoon and early evening, mainly across north Mississippi, but the severe weather threat remains low. Skies turn partly clear overnight with lows in the upper 70s to near 80. THURSDAY: Thursday brings more heat and humidity. Highs again in the middle to, a few, upper 90s.
