The Intergovernmental Panel for Climate Change (IPCC) showed the importance of limiting the increase of the average global temperature to less than 1.5 °C compared to preindustrial temperatures to prevent climate disasters. (1) There is a global effort, under the Paris Agreement, to reach net zero emissions by 2050. (2) Investigation into decarbonizing existing industrial processes (3) is ongoing but for hard to abate sectors, carbon dioxide capture is essential to meet the net zero targets.
