Man's body found hours after drowning at Lake Hartwell

lake hartwell drought 2026 SOURCE: Sky 4 The Oconee County coroner responded to a drowning on Lake Hartwell Saturday morning.We're told the victim and his other friends were swimming Saturday morning near Harts Cove Apartments. They called 911 around 2:36 a.m. His body was found just after 8 a.m.According to the coroner, the man from Jackson County, Georgia, was located in 17 feet of water about 60 feet from the shoreline. His name will be released after his family is notified.
