It’s finally happening: support for Israel is collapsing in U.S. politics due to the horrors of Israeli aggression. And this shift is being driven, in part, by the growing generational divide over Zionism in the Jewish community. I focus on the Jewish community because it has long provided the political bulwark for Israel, and it is now divided into three warring camps. On the right are the major Jewish organizations, which continue to back Israel’s wars to the hilt.

The American press does its best not to cover savage Israeli views of Palestinians, but a leading New York synagogue gave an honored platform to those views ten days ago. It hosted an Israeli advocate with connections in its government who argued for the ethnic cleansing of Gaza, and said American Jews need to support that operation.

Joe Kent’s resignation as White House counterterrorism chief in a March 17 letter to the president alleging that Israeli officials and the Israel lobby deceived him into launching a war is, as it should be, the bombshell story this week. “Iran posed no imminent threat to our nation, and it is clear that we started this war due to pressure from Israel and its powerful American lobby,” Kent wrote.
