Interview

What was your first job as a journalist?

I worked for a few small websites before I became first a part-time and then a full-time staff writer at TechRaptor.net.

Have you ever used a typewriter?

Yes. It's great for distraction-free writing, but not practical.

How is social media changing news?

It's changing journalism by killing it.

Who's your favorite fictional journalist?

Spider Jerusalem. Definitely not as a role model.

What does it mean to be a journalist?

To report and reflect on the events and figures of current times so that we might have a glimpse of future times. Or die typing.

What's your favorite social network?

None.

Why did you become a journalist?

It paid slightly better than being a translator and editor in a developing country.

Did you work for your high school newspaper? If so, what did you do there?

No, there wasn't one. If there were, I would write about nerd stuff.

What story are you most proud of writing or working on?

My features on independent developers and studios, but I hope my best work is yet to come.

What's the best pitch you ever got?

An editor asked me to write an anniversary feature on Fallout 2 and it was probably the most popular article I've written.

What's your favorite drink?

I drink water like a Fremen, but I like a bitter beer now and then.

Aside from your own, what's your favorite publication to read?

Mine is far from my favorite. I read journalists before I read publications, and they are too numerous to list.
