Despite extreme heat that delayed the start of the show by an hour, hundreds of people packed Independence Mall on Friday night for the annual free "Pops on Independence" concert, kicking off the Fourth of July weekend in Philadelphia. The Philly Pops opened the performance with the national anthem before playing several hometown favorites from the "Rocky" soundtrack, drawing cheers from the crowd.

Police investigating after officer fires weapon in North Philadelphia, police say

A Philadelphia police officer fired their weapon in an incident outside a children's hospital Thursday morning. The Shooting Investigation Group confirmed to CBS News Philadelphia that a shooting was under investigation involving two people shot near St. Christopher's Hospital for Children. It's unclear if the officer's bullet struck the victims. It's not clear what led to the shooting. We have crews and Chopper 3 headed to the scene and we're working to learn the conditions of the people involved.
