KABC releases All-State teams for 2026 season

PITTSBURG, Kan. (KOAM) -- On Tuesday, the Kansas Association of Baseball Coaches released their All-State teams for the 2026 season. In Class 2-1A, the Colgan Panthers had six athletes named, including four First-Team nominees. The Southeast Lancers saw a trio of players named honorable mentions, and a pair Marmaton Valley Wildcats earned recognition. At the Class 3A level, Girard star pitcher Kam Smith was named the 3A Pitcher of the year award in addition to First-Team honors.

Jailbirds defeat reigning champs in home opener

JOPLIN, Mo. (KOAM) -- A new era of summer baseball is underway in Joplin as the Jailbirds battled the St. Joseph Mustangs in their home opener. After falling behind in the top of the first, Joplin plated five runs in the home half to take the lead. Jailbirds down the reigning champions and improve to 3-1 on the season.
