Man sentenced in murder of two sisters

ASHLAND, Ky. (WSAZ) - A man who plead guilty to killing two women in June of 2022 was sentenced Thursday. John Tooson was sentenced to life in prison for the two murder charges with the possibility for parole after 25 years. Tooson was also sentenced to a combined 40 years in prison for other charges that are to be served concurrent with the life sentence.

Third person arrested in connection with string of Huntington shootings

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) - A suspect has been arrested in connection with one of three shootings in the same downtown area that left four people injured on April 25, according to the Huntington Police Department. Officers say Jayron Antonio Washington, 32, of Huntington, has been charged with three counts of felony malicious wounding and one count of felony wanton endangerment.

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) - The region is waking up to a mix of winter weather as a major winter storm pushes through our area. As of 4 a.m., heavy sleet is falling in downtown Huntington. WSAZ’s First Alert Weather Meteorologist Dillon Gaudet says 1”-2” would be at least 4”-8” plus of snow because sleet is much denser and more compact than snow.
