How is social media changing news?
It allows everybody to participate in the reporting and contextualization of news. The drawback is, not everybody is qualified to do that.

A desire not only to learn the truth, but to share it

Google for research, Twitter for new ideas, and my laptop for writing.

Why did you become a journalist?
Everybody relies on someone to contextualize information to inform their lives. I want to be one of those people.
Did you work for your high school newspaper? If so, what did you do there?
My high school didn't have a newspaper.
What story are you most proud of writing or working on?
It's hard to choose just one, but I'm really proud of my pieces on progressivism, on Charlottesville and on Philando Castile.
