A “Hate Crime” to Hate Crimes

Labor Day is Over. Every Day is Corporate Day.
I rather wonder if this prophecy is true any more. Yesterday was Labor Day. Today, and every other day of the year, may as well be Corporate Day. A grim turn on an old Peanuts cartoon, above. We’ve allowed corporations to insidiously dominate virtually every major aspect of our lives, production, finance, extraction, technology and most other industries. I spent most of this weekend at the Greenbelt Labor Day festival and parade and was delighted to speak and enjoy time with scores of people.

I am thinking of running for Congress in Maryland's 4th Congressional District. The current incumbent is Glenn “AIPAC” Ivey. People might recall, he got in on a flood of AIPAC money, defeating Donna Edwards in 2022. Edwards, in addition to many other things, was one of the only members of Congress to go to Gaza. She went on a trip in 2009 (which big tech platforms obscure). I will have to decide by early August. I would run as a Green — they are on the ballot in Maryland.

The Empire’s Strategic Patience
One model that the United States of Imperialism may be using in attacking Iran now — most recently with their bombing and seeming attempting to tank the MOU — is Iraq through the 1990s. Throughout the last three years, it’s been amazing how little mention is made of the attacks on Iraq and the parallels to them we are seeing. Last Chance for Petro on Palestine
Petro spoke at the UNSC earlier this month. He compared Israel’s slaughter in Gaza to the “age of the Nazis”. He was reportedly prevented from meeting NYC mayor Mamdani by the Trump administration. But I’ve found no report of any UNSC resolution put forward by Colombia during their time on the Council, including as president this month.

Glenn Ivey is “my” congressman. Except he’s not. An activist with Prince Georges 4 Palestine calls him “AIPAC Ivey” — which is apt. He loves going to imperial Israel and meeting with Melenoski/Netanyahu — and of course taking AIPAC cash. He defeated Donna Edwards in 2020 — who in 2009 was one of the few members of Congress to bother to go to Gaza. As previously noted, the ads against Edwards were funded by pro-Israeli groups, but they made no mention of Israel.

Over the weekend, I saw the new documentary “American1 Doctor” which I highly recommend. During the discussion period, a woman asked what people could do. The director, Poh Si Teng, said call your congressional representative, which I found to be a frustratingly limited response. For one, the showing was in Washington, D.C. and people who live there don’t have real voting representation in Congress.
