Highland Springs social media said early in the day Friday that the contest against Huguenot would happen. Rain or shine. Now, that theory was seriously tested — it was almost like people near Airport Drive were performing rain dances. At 7:30 p.m. though, right as the sun was setting, a full rainbow bloomed over Highland Springs High School and though the game was delayed two hours from the original kickoff time, 804 football fans stood in the line to get into Victor E. Kreiter Stadium with honor.

With the high school golf season underway, will it be the race to catch Ben Cowgill again? The 2025 All-Metro golfer of the year and Douglas Freeman senior is back for one last season with the Mavericks before taking his talents to William & Mary. For the second week in a row, Richmond-area high school football games were sizzling. Conditions were humid and muggy. Players went down with cramps left and right and hydration was the centerpiece to success. The temperature at J. Wilson Crump Stadium at Thomas Dale was 95 degrees at kickoff. That didn't deter this one other fact though — Once again, the Knights "Dark Zone" defense was as hot as anything else in the air Thursday night.
