@mattzollerseitz Also it struck me aesthetically as a failure of imagination. There's not enough peril going on in WWI, now she's gotta fight a giant Johnny from NAKED in a silly hat!

@mattzollerseitz But the movie's still structured so that defeating Ares saves the world, which totally muddies up whatever point they're trying to make.

@mattzollerseitz I felt betrayed. Pine's speech about how "maybe we're just not that good" was incredibly exciting for a summer blockbuster, and then the movie sold itself out for third-act fireworks.

@mattzollerseitz Yeah but after all that lip service to interesting ideas, in the end she's still gotta kill Ares anyway and it devolves into a lot of punching stuff that goes on FOREVER. Also really, really ugly CGI.
