Seanan Forbes’s Biography

A travel junkie, I've beaten deadlines from more than forty countries around the world.

As a freelance journalist, I have written and taken photographs for print and digital journals, including USA Today, Food Network, Tales of the Cocktail, Rodale's Organic Life, Saveur, the New York Post, the Chicago Tribune, the Chicago Sun-Times, Chowhound, and Running Times.

Bridging the gap between trade and consumer markets, I write a monthly bartending column for Edible Manhattan. The target readership is the professional bartending community, but I was asked to reach aspirational consumers, as well, so that is what I do.

With a background in an AP Award-winning newsroom, I can cover anything. I've written features, profiles, breaking news stories, roundups, quizzes, and more. For the past few years, most of my work has focused on food, drink, travel, culture, sustainability, design, and health. I'm keen to write more stories about international and local issues, vanishing or endangered cultures and traditions, gender and bias issues, and access to food and health.

Having travelled extensively, worked in five countries, and lived long-term in two, I have a deep interest in the way the international influences the local and the way the apparently local can affect the wider world.
