Shane Bowers , Colorado Eagles The Colorado Avalanche acquired goaltender Keith Kinkaid from the Boston Bruins in exchange for forward Shane Bowers. More to follow.
Avalanche Have Several Prospects All Battling for Playing Time
The Colorado Avalanche offseason is, for the most part, complete after the signing of defenseman Ryan Murray to a one-year, $2 million deal. General manager (GM) Joe Sakic was correct when he stated last season that the Avalanche will have as deep of a team as they were going to have in a run for the Cup. There is no doubt the current team has gotten a pretty good-sized face lift and looks quite different from the team that won the Presidents’ Trophy last year.

Identifying buyers and sellers as the deadline approaches
The trade deadline is one of the trickiest times of the year for NHL general managers. Should contenders trust their current roster, or bring in reinforcements? And should bubble teams try to compete with the top dogs? Last year, the Columbus Blue Jackets went all-in, acquiring Ryan Dzingel and Matt Duchene to take a run at the Stanley Cup. They went on to squeeze into the playoffs and shockingly sweep the Tampa Bay Lightning in the first round, but then bowed out in the second.

Canada hangs on for win, clinches spot in quarterfinal
VANCOUVER — There must be something that scout Tim Bernhard and the Arizona Coyotes saw that give them a monopoly on Team Canada’s 13th forwards. Mackenzie Entwistle and Tyler Steenbergen were picked two rounds apart by the Coyotes in 2017 and both have improbably been integral to success in Team Canada’s march in back-to-back World Juniors. Steenbergen delivered Canada’s golden goal last year in Buffalo as the team’s seldom-used extra forward.
Avalanche prospect shows off his hand-eye coordination with an impressive goal
BarDown Staff Shane Bowers We’re just a few sleeps away from the start of the 2019 World Junior Ice Hockey Championships but the teams are already putting in work during the pre-competition play. On Friday night, Team Canada went head-to-head against Slovakia and the hosts jumped out to a massive lead in the opening period of play.
