Couple spared prison time for sham marriage

A man and a woman were spared time in federal prison for their involvement in fraudulently obtaining a visa through marriage. Bonnie Jo Quichocho, 49, and Jung Hoon Song, 50, appeared in the District Court of Guam on Wednesday to be sentenced for offenses related to marrying for the purpose of helping Song, a citizen of the Republic of Korea, obtain a green card.

Suspect in 2017 murder faces new charge

A man accused of killing Adam Messier in 2017 was indicted on new charges of complicity to commit murder as a first-degree felony. Since 2021, Donavan Elliott Alianza Carriaga has faced a charge of murder in connection with the 2017 death of Adam Messier. Carriaga was one of four men alleged to have killed Messier and disposed of his body before his remains were found in 2021.

AG reminds merchants of price-gouging law as Bavi approaches

Merchants were advised that prices must be frozen once a Condition of Readiness is declared in anticipation of Typhoon Bavi. On Thursday, the Office of the Attorney General "reminded and cautioned merchants, landlords and fuel providers, 'No price gouging will be tolerated.'" "As Guam prepares for possible severe weather, the law is clear. Merchants cannot raise prices in anticipation of disaster," the OAG press release stated.
