Abstract Ocular diseases and mental disorders represent major global public health challenges. Although prior studies have explored associations between ophthalmic conditions and psychiatric disorders, systematic investigations into their underlying mechanistic connections remain limited. This review synthesizes evidence from high-quality literature to delineate the bidirectional links between ophthalmic and psychiatric health.

Plasmids and cloning Full-length human ZER1 (NCBI Gene ID 10444) and ZYG11B (NCBI Gene ID 79699) cDNAs were cloned into the pCDH-Flag-c-Myc (Addgene, #102626) using a seamless cloning strategy for mammalian overexpression. For bacterial expression, DNA fragments encoding full-length or fragments of ZER1 (amino acids 300–766 and 469–766) and ZYG11B (amino acids 490–744) were cloned into the pGEX-6P-1 vector (Cytiva) for generation of N-terminal GST-fusion proteins.

Abstract Art viewing has been associated with well-being and positive mental health, yet its benefits are not universal across contexts or viewers. A key question is which aspects of art-viewing experiences drive beneficiary effects and whether they can be directly augmented to enhance well-being.
