1 Introduction Diabetic kidney disease (DKD) is a leading cause of chronic kidney disease worldwide.[1] Renin–angiotensin system inhibitors, sodium-glucose cotransporter-2 inhibitors, and mineralocorticoid receptor antagonists are the current standard therapies for DKD.[2] However, with these therapies, many DKD patients still progress to end-stage kidney disease,[3] indicating an unmet need for therapies.

Corticotropin Stimulation in Adrenal Venous Sampling for Patients With Primary Aldosteronism: The ADOPA Randomized Clinical Trial
Key Points Question Does adrenal venous sampling (AVS) with vs without corticotropin (ACTH) stimulation lead to different outcomes in patients with primary aldosteronism? Findings In this randomized clinical trial including 228 patients with primary aldosteronism in China, the proportion of patients with complete biochemical remission at follow-up was 51.3% for AVS without and 49.6% for AVS with ACTH stimulation, not a statistically significant difference.

Not All Hypertension Is a Lifelong Disease
A 63-year-old woman had a history of hypertension for 30 years. She was taking 3 medications (amlodipine, irbesartan, and indapamide) but still had not achieved optimal blood pressure control. She experienced a stroke 15 years ago but had no residual disability. She was found to have hypokalemia (serum potassium, 2.1 mEq/L [to convert to mmol/L, multiply by 1]) and was referred to a cardiologist, who discontinued her diuretic because of suspected diuretic-induced hypokalemia.

General and abdominal obesity are the major subtypes of obesity. Compared with general obesity, abdominal obesity was considered to be more closely associated with chronic diabetes complications, such as cardiovascular diseases and diabetic retinopathy (1,2).
