First-principles demonstration of Roman-surface topological multiferroicity
The concept of topology has been widely applied to condensed matter, going beyond the band crossover in reciprocal spaces. A recent breakthrough suggested unconventional topological physics in a quadruple perovskite TbMn3Cr4O12, whose magnetism-induced polarization manifests a unique Roman surface topology [G. Liu et al., Nat. Commun. 13, 2373 (2022)]. However, the available experimental evidence based on tiny polarizations of polycrystalline samples could be strengthened.

The Future Will Be Forged By Smart Materials Original
Thematic investment can be a powerful tool to vault your portfolio past the myriad of obstacles that can plague the moment. If you’re locked into the right disruptive megatrends, you won’t have to stand by and watch inflation gobble up your portfolio or volatility strike it down. However, the right themes can be hard to spot in advance, even if they feel absolutely inevitable in hindsight. In twenty years, “smart materials” may prove to be one such under-the-radar, yet ultimately inevitable theme.

Shannon Entropy for Time-Varying Persistence of Cell Migration
Abstract Cell migration, which can be significantly affected by intracellular signaling pathways (ICSP) and extracellular matrix (ECM), plays a crucial role in many physiological and pathological processes. Cell migration is typically modeled as a persistent random walk (PRW), which depends on two critical motility parameters, i.e., migration speed and persistence time. It is generally very challenging to efficiently and accurately quantify the migration dynamics from noisy experimental data.

It's a 3-D printer, but not as we know it
3D printing techniques have quickly become some of the most widely used tools to rapidly design and build new components. A team of engineers at the University of Bristol has developed a new type of 3D printing that can print composite materials, which are used in many high performance products such as tennis rackets, golf clubs and aeroplanes. This technology will soon enable a much greater range of things to be 3D printed at home and at low-cost.
Quantum Dots : a True “Particle in a Box” System
A quantum dot (QD) is a crystal of semiconductor material whose diameter is on the order of several nanometers – a size which results in its free charge carriers experiencing “quantum confinement” in all three spatial dimensions. The electronic properties of quantum dots are intermediate between those of bulk semiconductors and of discrete molecules and closely related to their size and shape.
