The Blind Boys of Alabama have been a working singing group since 1939, previously under the name Happy Land Jubilee singers. That shooting came only a week after a 15-year-old was shot and killed at his Menchville High School bus stop. Holocaust survivor dies due to recalled Boar's Head deli meat, family says
NEWPORT NEWS, Va. — A Newport News family is heartbroken after they say a loved one, 88-year-old Gunter Garshon Morgenstein, died after eating deli meat from Boar's Head. "We're all still in shock, for all of the things you know that he's seen and been through in its life to come to that, you know, lunch meat," said his son, Garshon Morgenstein. Garshon said his father grew up in Germany and is a Holocaust survivor.

Currently at a port in Philadelphia, the SS United States needs a new home after a federal judge ruled that it must leave by September 12. Soon all Virginia drivers will be required to have vehicle insurance
VIRGINIA, USA — Starting this summer, all Virginia drivers will be required to have vehicle insurance. For years, drivers could register their vehicle in Virginia by paying a fee of $500. However, in 2023 lawmakers passed VA SB951 and it will take effect on July 1, 2024. Former Virginia Senator Frank Ruff sponsored the legislation. The bill repeals the option to register an uninsured motor vehicle upon payment of the uninsured motor fee of $500.
Juvenile injured following police-involved shooting in York County
YORK COUNTY, Va. — A juvenile is in the hospital after an officer-involved shooting Sunday evening. The York-Poquoson Sheriff’s Office said deputies received a call for an armed subject who was brandishing a firearm. The incident happened in the 400 block of Arcadia Loop at 6:11 p.m. on Sunday. One juvenile male was transported to a local hospital to treat injuries sustained from the shooting, the Sheriff’s Office reports. This incident is under investigation.

What Does it Mean if I am “High Risk” for Breast Cancer?
I was only 47 when I was diagnosed with breast cancer. I had normal mammograms up to that point, which is what made the discovery all the more surprising. But after feeling two lumps in my breast, I alerted my doctor, who sent me for a biopsy. The biopsy was positive for invasive breast cancer. Because the mammogram did not detect the masses, my breast surgeon ordered a breast MRI to ensure no further masses were noted in either breast.

Governor Youngkin announces millions for affordable housing in Commonwealth

'This is heartbreaking': Family and friends hold candlelight vigil for Menchville sophomore
NEWPORT NEWS, Va. — A candlelight vigil was held Friday evening for a Menchville High School student who died while at school earlier in the week. The vigil for Kaleiah Jones was held at Riverview Farm Park, across from Menchville High School. On Tuesday, Kaleiah experienced a medical emergency. Her family told 13News Now they were shocked when she unexpectedly passed away, and they questioned school staff. "This is heartbreaking," said Porscha Frank, Kaleiah's aunt.

One person dead following four-vehicle crash in Accomack County
ACCOMACK COUNTY, Va. — Virginia State Police are investigating a four-vehicle crash that left one person dead Friday. The crash happened along Lankford Highway, Route 13, a half mile South of Coal Kin Road.
