Steve Soliz’s Biography

Hello! I am a news anchor at KOMO/KUNS in Seattle, Washington! Currently, I anchor KOMO News at 3:30 p.m. and ARC Seattle at 10 p.m. Additionally, I host digital town halls on various topics. Plus, I have a monthly segment called Home Of The Brave, a series of military-focused stories that highlight our Armed Forces.

With more than 20 years of experience in broadcast journalism, I have developed a diverse set of skills and a passion for storytelling. I have covered a wide range of topics, from breaking news and politics to travel and entertainment. I have also earned multiple awards and recognitions, including a Rocky Mountain EMMY and a Lone Star EMMA. Additionally, I have expanded my horizons by working as an actor in TV and film productions, such as El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie and Netflix's Army of the Dead.

While I take pride in my work on-camera, what means more to me is the work I do off-camera. I find joy in coaching and mentoring journalists. I am honored to serve the National Association of Hispanic Journalists as the president of the Pacific Northwest chapter and as alternate regional director for Region 8. I believe in the importance of diversity, inclusion, and representation in the media industry, and I strive to guide and support aspiring journalists of color. Additionally, I am on an advisory board at Washington State University's Murrow College as a proud supporter of getting eager journalists into newsrooms.

I’m a native Texan who has found a home in the Seattle metro area. I am always open to new opportunities and challenges, and I welcome feedback and collaboration. You can reach me at ssoliz@sbgtv.com.
