CU sues 3M over water pollution

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — City Utilities (CU) of Springfield is accusing the technology company 3M of water pollution. The lawsuit, which CU filed this week, claimed 3M has released ‘forever chemicals’ that are making their way into the James River. CU treats the water from James River so residents can use it as drinking water. “I have known for years that that that there’s been pollution in [the water], especially in the James,” Springfield resident Jimmy Spinner said.

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – Former Missouri State University (MSU) basketball player Abdul-Hakim Fofana is sharing his story six years after a cryotherapy mishap caused career-ending injuries to his feet. Fofana is suing MSU and on Tuesday his lawyers will be in court arguing why this case should not be dismissed. In 2018, the MSU men’s basketball coaching staff arranged for the cryotherapy machine to be brought to the arena on the team’s off day to help the players with their recovery.

Christian County man sentenced to 120 day program in prison after teen overdoses and dies

CHRISTIAN COUNTY, Mo. — A judge sentenced Jacob Sayre to a 120-day program in prison after he sold drugs to a 16-year-old who overdosed and died nearly two years ago. Sayre pleaded guilty under a plea agreement in March 2024 to first-degree involuntary manslaughter and delivery of a controlled substance. Court documents said Sayre sold and dropped off what he called ‘perc’ to a 16-year-old girl on the night of September 3, 2022.
