Another day, another round of toasty summer heat! A Heat Advisory is in effect noon to 8 pm Saturday for those along and north of I-20 including the Columbia metro. Forecast highs are back to the upper 90s and heat index values may climb as high as 105 for both Saturday and Sunday. Drink plenty of water, limit strenuous outdoor activities, and take frequent breaks in the shade and A/C. Saturday's highs are just a few degrees shy of record warmth for the 4th of July. Heat Advisory in effect today as temperatures approach 100

Buckle up for some high heat today! Temperatures will quickly warm this morning, reaching the low 90s by lunch time. Forecast highs this afternoon are in the upper 90s, and a few spots may even reach 100 for the first time this year. While the humidity won't be unbearable, it will be high enough to push heat index values up near 105 this afternoon. A Heat Advisory is in effect along and north of I-20 from noon to 8 pm today.

Isolated strong storms possible, most stay dry today

The majority of the Midlands will remain dry today, but those northwest of Columbia will want to keep an eye on the sky. A few thunderstorms are expected to fire up this afternoon from Charlotte to the Upstate, and could pose a threat for damaging wind gusts. It is possible one or two of these storms clips Fairfield and Newberry Counties in the late afternoon or early evening.
