XBTs Provide First‐Order Characterization of Seabed Physical Properties
1 Introduction Expendable Bathythermographs (XBTs) function by transmitting temperature values versus ocean depth as they fall from a ship to the bottom of the ocean, with data transmitted back to the ship via a thin copper wire that unspools during XBT free-fall (Campbell et al., 1965). Although the copper wire occasionally breaks when an XBT impacts the seabed, in many instances, XBTs continue to report temperature after seabed impact (Figure 1).

When you connect your Keplr wallet to a Cosmos SDK-based chain, you receive a wallet address specific to that chain. However, the underlying public key remains the same across these chains, and you can derive the addresses for other chains by converting the address prefix.

Who says you can’t go to heaven unless you die? By Taylor Lee
I’m here to tell you that old wives’ tale is simply not true. And I have the deets to prove it. Every August for the last ten years my guy and I take off for somewhere wonderful for the month of August. Given that we live in Phoenix, Arizona, you can understand why we choose that month to beat it out of Arizona. But this year Phoenix outdid itself. The Arizona Republic declared, “It’s official: July in Phoenix was the hottest month ever recorded in a U.S. City.” Yep.

Time to Tart It Up! By Taylor Lee
Disclosure: I write sexy murder mysteries and “tart” describes a goodly number of my heroines. Although I prefer to call them feisty. But I’m on a tart rampage. One that appeals to my other obsessions–cooking and eating. (I’m convinced that sex and food are, or should be, integrally related.) On to tarts. My trusty NYT’s April food columns declared in so many words that sheet pan dishes were the “must make” recipes of the month. (All elements of the meal are baked on a single sheet pan).

As I welcome my 79th birthday: And Then There Is Cellulite by @Taylor Lee
Leslie Morgan Steiner the author of four books, including “The Naked Truth,” which explores femininity, aging, and sexuality after 50 writes:. “Summer is coming, friends. You know what this means. Bikinis. I’m 56. Like most American women, I’ve grappled with body positivity my whole life. My mother, a college athlete who never dieted, preached that natural thinness was a God-given A+ and muffin-tops a failing grade. My first published article was about surviving anorexia as a college freshman.

Do Aphrodisiacs Work? By Taylor Lee
Being the confirmed sensualist that I am, I’m a true believer in the power of food to affect our moods and desires. That said, I loved this terrific article by Diana Herrington (@DancinginLife) on the power of aphrodisiacs to affect our love life. Do aphrodisiacs really work? Can you change your mood with food chemistry? Here are famous foods and activities known for love, the science behind them, and tasty recipes to share with your sweetie.
The Case for Bodice Ripper Sex-Ed * by @TaylorLeeWrites
NEWS FLASH! We romance writers have been vindicated. According to none other than the Gray Lady herself, the New York Times: “Romance Novels Are The Best Sex-Ed.” Seriously, this is news. The January 21, Sunday New York Times featured a sensational article by contributing opinion writer Jennifer Weiner titled: “We Need Bodice-Ripping Sex-Ed.” In her clever, insightful article Weiner claims that she got a smidgen of information about sex from her well-meaning parents.
UMass goalkeeper Megan Olszewski’s resiliency stands out on and off the soccer field
EDITOR’S NOTE: This story is part of a Title IX-focused series created by UMass’ Journalism 332 Sports Writing class. In a run-down hockey rink in Methuen, there are sliding doors, old bleachers and retro seats. It is in this old-styled building where Megan Olszewski got on the ice with an all-boys team beginning at 4 years old. Olszewski played ice hockey in Assabet Valley with all-boys teams. It wasn’t until she was 7 that she was able to play on all-girls teams.
Monkey Bread #Recipe By @TaylorLeeWrites
Monkey Bread is sticky, delectable, and surprisingly simple! This recipe comes from the inimitable Ree Drummond, The Pioneer Woman, who insists “The smell is to die for, but the taste is life itself. I would endorse this monkey bread as the next presidential candidate.” I tend to agree. It was the hit of our Christmas morning brunch.
Why I’m Thankful by Taylor Lee
I know, I know. We’re not supposed to talk about politics. Someone might be offended or angry. For better or worse, I’m a political being. Always have been. My various degrees are all associated with Public Policy, Politics, International Relations, etc. I am not a partisan. In one election I voted for a Republican for Congress, a Democrat for the U. S. Senate and an Independent for governor. Because of that I faced the November midterm election with fear and a heavy heart.
I Am Woman, Hear Me Roar! by Taylor Lee
If ever three women roared, they’re Viola Davis, Cate Blanchett and Daisy Edgar-Jones. If you love movies, as well as powerful, talented women, the big screen has just unveiled an embarrassment of riches. Let’s start with the most understated and surprising one. I didn’t particularly want to see Where the Crawdads Sing—and no I hadn’t read the book. Even the trailers didn’t entice me. Thank goodness my angels did.
Too Busy To Take a Vacation? Think Again by Taylor Lee
Can you buy a ticket to a better mood? Hop a flight to a healthier heart? The travel industry would say yes—and increasingly, so does science. And so do I. My guy and I just returned from four weeks in Grand Junction, Colorado. If you haven’t been there, add it to your must-visit list.
Take A Moment And Stretch by @TaylorLeeWrites
My writer friends and I spend a lot of our lives slaving over our computers. It’s not surprising that when we look at the clock we see that we have been writing for hours. And if you are like me, your head, hands, and butt make it clear you need to move, I need to stretch. I’m a dedicated exerciser so assume that I’m getting the body work I need. As a daily gym rat, my chosen body wreckers are the elliptical and the bike. I rate my work-out on the number of miles I put on my internal clock.
The Secret To Happier, Stronger Relationships by Taylor Lee
I’m personally and professionally a relationship freak. Personally, I’m lucky to have a lot of relationships, most of which are incredibly satisfying and bring me joy. Professionally, I’m a romance writer which means that my “work life” revolves around writing about relationships. In all my books, the relationship challenges between my heroine and hero are an important part of the story. Some books feature the guy as the troublemaker and the woman tends to be the problem solver.
Happy Birthday to Me! by Taylor Lee
What do Nancy Pelosi, Donna Shalala and Maxine Waters have in common? Clearly, they are all women. If you guessed that they are older women, you’re right. But how old? In their fifties, sixties? Try in their 70’s and 80’s and you’d be right. We all know Nancy Pelosi is 81. Not to be outdone, Representative Donna Shalala, the former US Secretary of Health, became the oldest freshman in the new House class when she was elected in 2019.
And Then There Is Cellulite by @TaylorLeeWrites
Leslie Morgan Steiner the author of four books, including “The Naked Truth,” which explores femininity, aging, cellulite, and sexuality after 50 writes: “Summer is coming, friends. You know what this means. Bikinis. I’m 56. Like most American women, I’ve grappled with body positivity my whole life. My mother, a college athlete who never dieted, preached that natural thinness was a God-given A+ and muffin-tops a failing grade.
Is Chocolate sexy? by @TaylorLeeWrites
“All you need is love. But a little chocolate now and then doesn’t hurt.” Charles M. Schulz In answer to the question above, the answer is ‘Heck Yes!” Valentine’s Day has come and gone, but if you’re a Romantic Suspense writer like I am, love and romance is a 365-day-a-year adventure. While science and romance may seem to be at odds, I love it when science studies issues critical to those of us who write (and love) Romantic Suspense.
The Red Handprint by @TaylorLeeWrites
Rosalie Fish, a nineteen year old track star, made international headlines at a 2019 Washington State track meet when she painted a red handprint over her mouth—and wrote the letters MMIW on her leg. The powerful image of a red handprint has come to symbolize the Missing Murdered Indigenous Women’s movement representing the thousands of women who have been silenced.
Olympic Skating, Are You Outraged? by @TaylorLeeWrites
Now that we all watched a 15-year-old Russian girl destroyed before our eyes on an international Olympic skating rink, once again the shocked outrage begins. And, yes, we should be outraged. But shocked? Surprised? Give me a break. We have been watching the price these young girl athletes pay for years now. Let’s call it what it is. Child abuse. Along with gymnastics these young skaters face a litany of abuse. Anorexia, bulimia, painkillers, suicide attempts and the list goes on.
Meditation by @TaylorLeeWrites
“Few of us ever live in the present. We are forever anticipating what is to come or remembering what has gone.”― Louis L’Amour I swear that I have the “busiest”, “never quiet” brain in the world. That’s why I’ve been paying more and more attention to the study of Meditation and Mindfullness. Take a look at some of the evidence below from an article by Alice G.
2022 Resolution Time is Here
DAMN! It’s Resolution Time Again…… Heck, I’m still working my way through the rest of the Holiday goodies and now I’m supposed to step back and focus on all the amazing ways I’m going to change my life in 2022? Okay, here goes. The good news: I actually do have some–deeply engrained habits that many people struggle to emulate. The not-so-good news: I am woefully inadequate in changing my behavior in an area I really need to improve.
Four Corners Monument by @TaylorLeeWrites
Quiz: Where in America can you find four state governments, two semiautonomous Native American governments, and four US federal government departments. Answer: The Four Corners Monument. Believe it or not, this inauspicious monument marks the quadripoint in the Southwestern United States where the states of Arizona, Colorado, New Mexico, and Utah meet. It is the only point in the United States shared by four states.

Me, a Health Nut? Guilty as Charged! by @TaylorLeeWrites
I admit it. I’m a health nut. I don’t know how anyone could sit on their butt all day the way we writers do and not be concerned about their health much less the size of their ‘butt.’ I’m a seven day a week exerciser and am seriously out of sorts if I miss a day at the gym where I do a minimum of seven miles on the elliptical and fifteen minutes on the rowing machine. I’ll admit, vanity is probably a bigger impetus for me than paying attention to my health but both spur me on.
The Case for BODICE RIPPER SEX ED by @TaylorLeeWrites
When CNN featured the life of Jackie Collins whose books sold over 500 million copies worldwide and were translated into 40 different languages (and who some call the birthmother of the bodice ripper), I grinned at a quote from Collins’s fellow romantic writer Barbara Cartland.
