The criminal offenses charged against Comey are precise and limited; two counts of threating harm to the President. They involve his posting of images of seashells arranged as “86 47.” 86 being slang for kill and Trump being the 47th president.

Culture Is Key: Engaging Culturally and Linguistically Diverse Populations in Breast Cancer Screening in High Income Contexts: A Scoping Review
1 Introduction Breast cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer globally and accounted for 685,000 cancer-related deaths in 2020 [1]. Screening for cancer is an important preventative strategy as it allows for early detection, diagnosis and treatment, resulting in increased cancer survivorship and reduced mortality [2, 3]. Similarly, a systematic review [4] found that worldwide, women who use mammography breast screening programs can significantly reduce breast cancer mortality by 33%.
A Classic from the Start
The history of music is filled with failed premieres, when future masterpieces face uncomprehending critics and audiences that range from somnolent to riotously hostile. In a way, a bad reception, while unpleasant, might help reinforce a composer’s reputation in the long run: After all, what truly great work could possibly be loved and understood immediately? One answer, at least, is that inescapable holiday-concert favorite, Handel’s Messiah.
Ursula von der Leyen’s pointless new quest for gender parity in Europe
The European Union’s three largest economies are stuck in a deep structural slump. The budget is a mess, with money running out. And the bloc is rapidly losing competitiveness. Meanwhile, populist parties committed to overthrowing the organization are coming closer to power all the time. You might think that the president of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, had enough serious problems to deal with it. Yet somehow she is finding time for something else: aiming for gender parity.
I Investigated Princess Diana’s Death: Here’s The Real Story You Won’t See In ‘The Crown’
As Netflix launches its final season of “The Crown,” focusing on Princess Diana, her boyfriend Dodi Fayed, and his billionaire father, Mohamed Al-Fayed, many viewers will be retold the story of Diana’s shocking death through TV news flashes. Personally, I remember getting the news in a phone call from the White House. When Diana and Dodi were killed in Paris, I was working at the American Embassy there.

A better way to go to college: at sea
I have been pondering ways to rescue young Americans from the trouble and often the waste of the four-year undergraduate college education. Many young people as I recently pointed out are looking for alternatives. But there aren’t very many good ones. In what follows, I propose we put some of these discontented souls in a ship and sail them around the world. It is not entirely a new idea, and before I turn my rudder in that direction, I’d like to survey the horizon.
How Nebraska Officials Are Trying to Solve the Plastic Problem
The restaurant at 7110 Railroad Ave in Bellevue succumbed to flames on Friday, December 23rd. There were no injuries reported, but the building is considered a total loss. A number of GoFundMe accounts have been launched to support the staff as they regroup and figure out next steps. Links for the fund and updates are available on Nettie’s Facebook Page, where you can also leave well wishes for the much beloved establishment.
How Nebraska Officials Are Trying to Solve the Plastic Problem
This story was originally published on the Nebraska News Service Reduce, reuse, recycle. Everyone recognizes the phrase, but the emphasis is commonly misplaced on the “recycle” part when the first two may be more important, at least when it comes to plastic. According to a 2022 article by The Atlantic, a mere 5% of plastic is actually recycled, meaning the vast majority is dumped in landfills along with other garbage. In Nebraska, that percentage is much harder to track.

The True Story Behind One Of The FBI's Biggest Kidnapping Cases
Stopping his car to pick up the newspaper at the bottom of his driveway, as he did every morning, Sidney J. Reso could not have known that within seconds he would be kidnapped and shot. On that April morning in 1992, Reso was the chief executive officer of Exxon International, then based in Florham Park, New Jersey. His kidnapping is the subject of Philip Jett’s emotionally gripping Taking Mr. Exxon.

Examining Institutional Failures At The FBI Through 'A Time To Build'
In “A Time to Build: From Family and Community to Congress and the Campus, How Recommitting to Our Institutions Can Revive the American Dream,” Yuval Levin examines the ongoing failures of our institutions, which is shaping up to be a major threat to America’s welfare and security. As the editor of “National Affairs” and the director of social, cultural, and constitutional studies at the American Enterprise Institute, Levin is well-suited to address the concern.
Ballot Measure 2 will make voting difficult for some Alaskans
This election season, we are strongly urging our fellow Alaskans to vote no on Ballot Measure 2. This initiative would get rid of our simple one person, one vote system and replace it with a 25-page mess written and funded by billionaires in the Lower 48. Ballot Measure 2 did not come from folks in our communities; it did not come from within. No one in Alaska asked for this.
Voting initiative would harm rural communities
This election season, we are strongly urging our fellow Alaskans to vote no on Ballot Measure 2. This initiative would get rid of our simple one person, one vote system and replace it with a 25-page mess written and funded by billionaires in the Lower 48. Ballot Measure 2 did not come from folks in our communities; it did not come from within. In fact, more than 99% of its funding is coming from wealthy people in New York and California – people who have never been to Alaska.
Too Much Theory
Why is this? Part of it, I fear, is that there is too much diaconate theory and not enough pastoral imagination. Ruddy’s article is in some ways an example: as with most conversations about the diaconate, it’s more about what it might be theologically and what it once was historically than about what the church now needs it to be. Deeply symbolic and theological language about both the priesthood and the diaconate sometimes ends up stifling creative thinking about their futures.
4 Pet's Sake Pet Food Pantry keeping family pets healthy
CLINTON — While many are working to preserve the health and economics of man, women and child during the COVID-19 pandemic, local volunteers from Mohawk in Herkimer County are making sure no one forgets man's best friend. Kristine Wilson, of Frankfort, and Julie Rotondo, of Clinton, owner of Beatty Bed and Breakfast, founded a pet food pantry, 4 Pet's Sake, located at the Mohawk Antiques Mall at 100 E.
Area residents give back to first responders
KIRKLAND — Supporting essential workers since the onset of the coronavirus pandemic seems to be getting a lot of support. One local resident decided she would support the Kirkland Police Department with soup and crackers. Valerie Lockwood, of Oriskany Falls, posted on Facebook asking if anyone would be interested helping her help out first responders. She said she received an "outpouring of love" in the way of replies. "I have a Tupperware online sales business,” Lockwood said.
Artist tries to make point with humor
CLINTON — A local artist is putting a lighter spin on some of his previous work as a way to give people a chance to smile during this time of frustration and sadness brought on by the coronavirus/COVID-19 pandemic. Pen and ink sketch and drawing artist, Tim Pryputniewicz, 60, of Clinton has painted masks on his previous art work to not only, hopefully, bring some levity to a serious situation, but to make a serious point as well.
Clinton community communicates with children
CLINTON — With families isolated in their homes during the COVID-19 pandemic, schools and parks closed for the children, what would be a better way to communicate love and support than through the comfort of a teddy bear? Teddy bears in windows across the globe, inspiring children to go on a Teddy Bear Hunt to see how many they can find, has become an international trend from Japan to New Zealand — even the Village of Clinton.
Already & Not Yet
At Christmas, we learned that God loves us enough to join us in this life. But on Easter, we find out that this life we know is only a hint of what God is planning to do with this creation. God is going to take this mess of a world, transform this life for us into something we can’t imagine. The evil of it vanquished, injustice wiped away, the poor restored to equality, death a thing of the past.
The World at Its Worst
Every year in the passion, we see our world at its worst. We see earthly powers concerned only with what is expedient for the moment; religious leaders more attached to their systems of belief than the meaning they carry; a villain beloved by the crowd who somehow goes free. And at the quiet center of it all, we see a man caught up in a process of death that can’t be stopped.
Refuge of Love
What were they like? We know the gospel story about Martha and Mary having their domestic squabble about who wasn’t working hard enough. Maybe they were all three that way: open and passionate and argumentative. If we can picture this home of theirs, a place of normal humans where Jesus just liked being, where he could relax and be himself, maybe we can begin to see that even now, a relationship with him might be not only possible, but something that would change how we experience God.
Light Is Coming
Even this story of the blind man, who is healed by Jesus without even asking for it, shows that change has unintended consequences. When you read this gospel, you realize that the healing itself only takes up about the first ten percent of the story; the rest is about all the side effects of someone being healed. Look at how complex life becomes for this man. Suddenly, people are even arguing about whether he is the same person he was before; and of course, in a way he isn’t.

Myths, Monsters & Love From The South of Chile -Thomas Jerome Baker - Mythology & Folk Tales - The Whole World News™
SHARE This book is dedicated to young and old alike. It is a centuries-old myth that has been passed down from generation to generation on the island of Chiloé. This island is located in the extreme southern sector of Chile, far from the urban center of the country. This fact partly explains the fertile ground available for the myth’s survival to the present day.
How to Get Rid of Mice
Now's the time to get serious about plugging the cracks, gaps, and crevices that mice use to gain access to your home. Look for Openings Do a sweep of your home's exterior, and look for openings a mouse could slip through-that means spaces as narrow as 1⁄4 inch. Likely locations include utility entry points, loose-fitting attic or exhaust vents, damaged weatherstripping, and the gaps beneath doors.

What Went Wrong at the FBI
Americans have grown increasingly skeptical since 2016 of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, an institution they once regarded as the world’s greatest law-enforcement agency. I spent 33 years in a variety of positions with the FBI, and I am troubled by this loss of faith. Many lapses have come to light, and each has been thoroughly covered. But why did they happen? The answer is a cultural change that occurred in the wake of the 9/11 attacks.

Sometimes the welcome is much more explicit, and it needs to be. People are told with some regularity, in homilies and at the great gatherings of sometimes-Catholics called Christmas and Easter, that this is where they belong no matter what condition of soul or life or marriage or sexual orientation they find themselves in. And God bless him, the pastor—who over twenty years in the parish has had a long time to indoctrinate his staff in what matters—really believes it.
