Stable inheritance of the Streptomyces linear plasmid SCP1 by dual ParABS partition systems

Low-copy-number plasmids often rely on dedicated maintenance mechanisms, such as partitioning systems, to ensure stable inheritance across generations. These partition systems actively segregate sister plasmid copies during cell division and are classified by the NTPase types they encode. While the distribution and organization of partition system types are well characterized in Enterobacteriaceae plasmids, their functions and diversity across broader bacterial taxa remain poorly understood.

ABSTRACT Aim The EMBARK (NCT02319837) trial demonstrated that enzalutamide with androgen-deprivation therapy (ADT; enzalutamide combination) or without ADT (enzalutamide monotherapy) significantly improved metastasis-free survival compared with ADT alone in high-risk biochemically recurrent (BCR) non-metastatic castration-sensitive prostate cancer (nmCSPC; also known as non-metastatic hormone-sensitive prostate cancer [nmHSPC]). No new safety signals were observed during the trial.

Abstract Translocating unfolded polypeptides across membranes is essential in all domains of life and in bacteria requires the conserved Sec machinery and ATP. Bacterial Sec substrates fold outside the cell and often use DsbA-catalysed disulfide bond formation between cysteines to ensure correct folding. Extracellular protein misfolding triggers a stress response that involves production of dual function HtrA-family chaperone/proteases.
