Evaluating the Clinical and Humanistic Impact of a Self-Care and Minor Ailment Service (MAS)
Abstract Minor ailments contribute significantly to the burden on healthcare systems. The introduction of a Minor Ailment Service (MAS) may alleviate pressure from hospital Accident & Emergency departments by directing patients suffering from minor ailments to be managed within the community. Although MAS has demonstrated positive results internationally, its effectiveness and acceptability in Hong Kong have not been evaluated.
What Does WhoIs Data have to do with Cybersecurity
When we launched our new homepage last year, a lot of people asked me “What does Whois data have to do with cybersecurity?” A lot, as it turns out. My answer then is the same as it is now: Whois data helps you understand who is behind nefarious domains and IPs, and helps you connect domains and IPs to each other and to their owners. If you follow cybersecurity news, the Mandiant/FireEye exposé on an Iranian hacker group garnered a fair amount of attention this week.
Atlas-guided discovery of transcription factors for T cell programming - Nature
Abstract CD8+ T cells differentiate into diverse states that shape immune outcomes in cancer and chronic infection1,2,3,4. To define systematically the transcription factors (TFs) driving these states, we built a comprehensive atlas integrating transcriptional and epigenetic data across nine CD8+ T cell states and inferred TF activity profiles. Our analysis catalogued TF activity fingerprints, uncovering regulatory mechanisms governing selective cell state differentiation.
Translation and validation of the Pharmacy Services Questionnaire (PSQ) in a Chinese population
ABSTRACT Background The Pharmacy Services Questionnaire (PSQ) was developed to measure patient satisfaction with pharmaceutical care. However, it has not been translated into Cantonese-Chinese and validated in the Hong Kong population. To develop and validate a Cantonese-Chinese-translated PSQ among native Chinese patients who have used pharmacy services at community pharmacies in Hong Kong.

The influence of pressure on lithium dealloying in solid-state and liquid electrolyte batteries - Nature Materials
Abstract Dealloying reactions underpin the operation of next-generation battery electrodes and are also a synthesis route for porous metals, but the influence of mechanical stress on these processes is not well understood. Here we investigate how the applied stack pressure affects structural evolution and electrochemical reversibility during the alloying/dealloying of Li alloy materials (Li–Al, Li–Sn, Li–In and Li–Si) using solid-state and liquid electrolytes.
Fluctuations in arousal reflect latent state transitions that facilitate behavioral optimization
Abstract People are often faced with surprising events that defy expectations. Such events elicit transient activity in the locus coeruleus/norepinephrine system and elevation of peripheral arousal markers including pupil dilation and the EEG P300, but the function of these signals remains unclear. We propose that they reflect latent state transitions that dynamically control the mental context governing learning and perception.
Effect of Microstructure on Chemo-Mechanical Damage Evolution in Aluminum Foil Anodes for Lithium-Ion Batteries
Popular Summary Aluminum-based anodes for lithium-ion batteries are attractive due to aluminum's high lithium storage capacity that would enable high energy density. Despite decades of work, however, aluminum-based anodes often show rapid capacity decay with cycling. Here, the authors investigate how different aluminum microstructures and defect density influence chemo-mechanical damage evolution.
Recurrent retinal detachment in Stickler Syndrome - Eye
Abstract To assess clinical factors leading to recurrent retinal detachment (RD) and characteristics of recurrence in patients with Stickler Syndrome. Retrospective case series study of patients with clinical diagnosis of Stickler Syndrome who underwent rhegmatogenous RD repair. Recurrent RD after initial surgery was categorized as “early” if the recurrence was within 1 year or “late” if greater than 1 year. Thirty eyes from 22 patients underwent rhegmatogenous RD repair.

Administering proton therapy to pediatric populations with cancer may serve as a “great application” that helps patients avoid developing mutations and second cancers, says Timothy Chen, MD.
Novel Radiotherapy Technology Shows “Great Advantage” in Brain Cancer
Using ZAP-X to treat patients with brain tumors is “better in many ways” in terms of timing patient convenience and accuracy compared with traditional forms of radiotherapy, according to Timothy Chen, MD.
Aluminum foil negative electrodes with multiphase microstructure for all-solid-state Li-ion batteries - Nature Communications
Abstract Metal negative electrodes that alloy with lithium have high theoretical charge storage capacity and are ideal candidates for developing high-energy rechargeable batteries. However, such electrode materials show limited reversibility in Li-ion batteries with standard non-aqueous liquid electrolyte solutions.
Direct observation of coherence transfer and rotational-to-vibrational energy exchange in optically centrifuged CO2 super-rotors - Nature Communications
Abstract Optical centrifuges are laser-based molecular traps that can rotationally accelerate molecules to energies rivalling or exceeding molecular bond energies. Here we report time and frequency-resolved ultrafast coherent Raman measurements of optically centrifuged CO2 at 380 Torr spun to energies beyond its bond dissociation energy of 5.5 eV (Jmax = 364, Erot = 6.14 eV, Erot/kB = 71, 200 K).
Suppression of coherent interference to electric-field-induced second-harmonic (E-FISH) signals for the measurement of electric field in mesoscale confined geometries
Abstract We present spatially enhanced electric-field-induced second-harmonic (SEEFISH) generation with a chirped femtosecond beam for measurements of electric field in mesoscale confined geometries subject to destructive spurious second-harmonic generation (SHG).
YN Believes Coins Are History in the Hand
My name is Timothy Chen, and I’m a 19-year-old numismatist from Southern California. I am an enthusiast of 19th - to mid-20th-century U.S. toned coins. My journey into the world of coin collecting first began at the age of 12 when I was given a worn 1936-D Buffalo Nickel in change after purchasing A Guide Book of United States Coins (“The Red Book”) from my local coin shop.

Sensitive and single-shot OH and temperature measurements by femtosecond cavity-enhanced absorption spectroscopy
Abstract In many low-temperature plasmas (LTPs), the OH radical and temperature represent key properties of plasma reactivity. However, OH and temperature measurements in weakly ionized LTPs are challenging, due to the low concentration and short lifetime of OH and the abrupt temperature rise caused by fast gas heating.
Iris Detect: A New Way to Discover and Monitor Hostile Domains
Introducing Iris Detect I’m super excited to announce our newest product: Iris Detect. This release is an initial realization of a vision we had many years ago to rethink and rebuild a product that we pioneered well over 10 years ago, brand protection in the DNS. For years I have argued that brand protection is security, and that things as simple as lookalike domain detection are fundamentally important to security posture.

An Exciting New Chapter for DomainTools
20 years ago DomainTools (then called “Whois.sc”) set out to help people figure out who owned what online. 10 years ago that company was bought by a small group of individuals who saw the potential of aggregating, at scale, data about domain names and DNS activity. Today we embark upon a new chapter at DomainTools as we welcome Battery Ventures as the first institutional investor in the company.
Honoring Juneteenth at DomainTools
Today, June 19th, is celebrated nationwide as ‘Juneteenth’, recognizing the day in 1865 when, more than 2 years after the Emancipation Proclamation, it was made clear that former Slaves were free men and women in all states in the Union, including Texas.

Four cybersecurity actions every CEO should take
The burden of a chief executive officer is that she is ultimately responsible for anything that might go horribly wrong at the company. You might get one pass if the badness is not-so-horrible, for example the VP of sales is going to take a lot of the heat if the company misses a quarterly bookings target, or the VP of technology if your website goes down for a not-acceptable amount of time.
