Rhein-induced free fatty acid generation cooperates with silver ions for biofilm-infected diabetic wound healing Original
|
Abstract Diabetic foot infection (DFI) significantly increases the risks of hospitalization and amputation, with biofilm infections caused by methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) and carbapenem-resistant Escherichia coli (CREC) being key drivers of treatment failure. Here, we analyzed MRSA/CREC biofilm-infected ulcer tissues from patients using proteomics and metabolomics.

The role of RAD23A in DNA repair and proteasome-dependent protein degradation in multiple myeloma
Abstract Multiple myeloma (MM) is a plasma cell malignancy characterized by genomic instability and a high dependency on proteasome activity. Accordingly, DNA-damaging agents and proteasome inhibitors (PIs) are frontline therapies; however, therapeutic resistance inevitably develops. RAD23A, a dual-function protein involved in nucleotide excision repair and proteasome-mediated protein degradation, is highly expressed in MM and is associated with poor patient survival.
Glymphatic dysfunction: a unifying hypothesis for delirium
Abstract Delirium is a common and severe neuropsychiatric syndrome with lasting cognitive consequences, yet its pathophysiology remains poorly understood. We hypothesize that impaired glymphatic flow represents a central mechanism by which delirium evolves. This hypothesis builds on recent evidence showing that major delirium risk factors, such as ageing, dementia, cardiovascular disease and renal failure, are all associated with reduced glymphatic clearance.
Workplace Trust, Interpersonal Trust, and Nurses' Physical and Mental Health: The Mediating Role of Resilience
Aims Examine the relationships between workplace trust, interpersonal trust, and nurses' physical and mental health, and specifically investigate the mediating role of resilience. Background Nurses are central to healthcare delivery but frequently experience workplace violence, adversely affecting their well-being. Trust represents a higher-order mechanism that fosters positive attitudes and professional growth, potentially safeguarding nurses' resilience in coping with adversity.

Chemotherapy-induced alopecia severely impacts patients’ quality of life and psychological well-being.
Transboundary Dispersal Dynamics of Ceracris kiangsu: From Source Regions to Migration Corridors
1. Introduction Ceracris kiangsu Tsai 1929, belonging to Orthoptera Acrididae, is an omnivorous migratory pest [1], which mainly harms bamboos, including Thysanolaena maxima, Trachycarpus fortunei, and Musa basjoo Siebold, as well as crops such as maize, rice, millet, and sorghum [2,3]. C. kiangsu is distributed across India, Thailand, Laos, and southern China with an annual single generation [3]. It overwinters as eggs deposited in egg pods 1–2 cm beneath the soil surface.

Inferring in vivo murine cerebrospinal fluid flow using artificial intelligence velocimetry with moving boundaries and uncertainty quantification
Abstract Cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) flow is crucial for clearing metabolic waste from the brain, a process whose dysregulation is linked to neurodegenerative diseases like Alzheimer's. Traditional approaches like particle tracking velocimetry (PTV) are limited by their reliance on single-plane two-dimensional measurements, which fail to capture the complex dynamics of CSF flow fully.
Restoration of cervical lymphatic vessel function in aging rescues cerebrospinal fluid drainage - Nature Aging
Abstract Cervical lymphatic vessels (cLVs) have been shown to drain solutes and cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) from the brain. However, their hydrodynamical properties have never been evaluated in vivo. Here, we developed two-photon optical imaging with particle tracking in vivo of CSF tracers (2P-OPTIC) in superficial and deep cLVs of mice, characterizing their flow and showing that the major driver is intrinsic pumping by contraction of the lymphatic vessel wall.

Dynamic response of different types of gut microbiota to fructooligosaccharides and inulin
Dynamic response of different types of gut microbiota to fructooligosaccharides and inulin† Fructooligosaccharides (FOS) and inulin are beneficial for human health. However, their benefits differ in individuals who consume prebiotics. Several factors contribute to this variation, including host genetics and differences in the gut microbiota.

Transition Metal High‐Entropy Nanozyme: Multi‐Site Orbital Coupling Modulated High‐Efficiency Peroxidase Mimics
1 Introduction Nanozymes are explicitly defined as a collection of nanomaterial-based artificial enzyme mimics, and they have gradually evolved as alternatives to natural enzymes due to their outstanding environmental tolerance, recyclability, and long-term stability.[1] Since the first accidental discovery of the inherent POD-like activity of magnetic Fe3O4 nanoparticles by Yan and coworkers in 2007, single- or multicomponent nanoscale noble metals, metal oxides, metal sulfides, alloys,...

Proteomic analysis identifies mechanism(s) of overcoming bortezomib resistance via targeting ubiquitin receptor Rpn13
Abstract Our prior study showed that inhibition of 19S proteasome-associated ubiquitin receptor Rpn13 can overcome bortezomib resistance in MM cells. Here, we performed proteomic analysis of Rpn13 inhibitor (RA190)-treated MM cells and identified an antioxidant enzyme superoxide dismutase (SOD1) as a mediator of Rpn13 signaling. SOD1 levels are higher in MM patient cells versus normal PBMCs; and importantly, SOD1 expression correlates with the progression of disease and shorter survival.
Cerebrospinal fluid influx drives acute ischemic tissue swelling
Spreading edema after stroke The brain is enveloped in a cushion of cerebrospinal fluid (CSF), which normally provides protection and helps to remove metabolic waste. CSF transport has also recently been shown to play unexpected roles in neurodegeneration and sleep. Mestre et al. used multimodal in vivo imaging in rodents and found that, after a stroke, an abnormally large volume of CSF rushes into the brain, causing swelling (see the Perspective by Moss and Williams).

The efficacy of acupuncture for stable angina pectoris: A systematic review and meta-analysis
Introduction Stable angina pectoris is a prevalent cardiovascular disease that affects more than 560,000 people per year in the USA.1 According to the European Society of Cardiology, the prevalence of angina in most European countries is estimated to be 20,000–40,000 individuals of the population per million.2 In addition to conventional drugs, nonpharmacological treatments are recommended by the European Society of Cardiology, including lifestyle modification, elimination of risk factors and...
Targeting tryptophan catabolic kynurenine pathway enhances antitumor immunity and cytotoxicity in multiple myeloma
Abstract Our prior studies showed that dysfunctional plasmacytoid dendritic cells (pDCs) contribute to multiple myeloma (MM) pathogenesis. Specifically, pDC interactions with tumor and T/NK effector cells in the bone marrow (BM) milieu induce immune suppression and MM cell proliferation. Delineation of the mechanism(s) mediating pDC–MM–T–NK cell interactions will identify novel therapeutic targets to both enhance cytotoxicity and anti-MM immunity.

Reversible morphology tuning of DNA-perylenebisdiimide assemblies through host-guest interaction
Reversible morphology tuning of DNA-perylenebisdiimide assemblies through host-guest interaction Due to the host-guest interaction between cucurbit[10]uril and Perylenebisdiimide (PDI) deritives, DNA-PDI conjugates can achieve the morphology shifting from spherical micelles to two-dimensional nanosheets. The competitive binding between guest 3,5-dimethyl-1-adamantanamine hydrochloride and PDI unit induces the reversiblility.
