Tyson Barrie

EDMONTON — Tyson Barrie scored a pair of goals as the Edmonton Oilers headed into their all-star break hiatus on a winning note, coming away with a 7-3 victory over the lowly Chicago Blackhawks on Saturday night. Leon Draisaitl, Connor McDavid and Zach Hyman each had a goal and two assists, and Evander Kane and Ryan McLeod also scored for the Oilers (28-18-4) who have gone 7-0-1 in their last eight games leading into a break that sees them idle until Feb. 7.

NEW YORK — Edmonton Oilers captain Connor McDavid, Buffalo Sabres centre Dylan Cozens and Dallas Stars left-wing Jason Robertson have been named the NHL’s three stars of the week. McDavid led the league with 11 points (five goals, six assists) in four multi-point performances to lead the Oilers to a 3-1-0 week. The two-time reigning NHL scoring champion finished the week with two goals and two assists in a 5-3 win over Montreal on Saturday.

The Toronto Maple Leafs have signed forward Calle Jarnkrok to a four-year deal with an average annual value of $2.1 million. The 30-year-old had 12 goals and 30 points in 66 games last season split between the Seattle Kraken and Calgary Flames. A second-round pick (51st overall) by the Detroit Red Wings at the 2010 NHL Draft, Jarnkrok never suited up for Detroit as he was dealt to the Nashville Predators in March 2014.
