Why fans should be grateful QB Bryce Underwood came to Michigan in the first place Original
At halftime on Saturday at The Big House, Michigan head football coach Kyle Whittingham decided to replace sophomore quarterback Bryce Underwood with true freshman Tommy Carr against Penn State. It wasn’t a shocking move, as the Wolverines were shutout in the first half and only mustered up 80 yards of total offense, including just 43 passing yards. Underwood also tossed two interceptions, and we all know at this point how Whittingham feels about turnovers (quite strongly).
News and notes from Kyle Whittingham’s pre-Indiana press conference Original
Tight end Zack Marshall missed the Penn State game due to a “non-injury situation,” Whittingham said. Take that whichever way you want to. Whittingham thought the offensive play-calling from Jason Beck was pretty good against Penn State, while also saying everything ultimately boils down to the execution from the players. Right guard Avery Gach made his first start over the weekend with Brady Norton out.

One of the main things Whittingham is hoping the team can correct moving forward is the turnover margin, citing the three turnovers in the Minnesota game as to a big reason why the Wolverines lost the game. “We have got to start turning the ball over less and taking it away more, plain and simple.” Michigan has nine total turnovers so far in 2026, tied for second-last in the Big Ten.
Michigan Football needs a serious attitude adjustment moving forward Original
There is a single word that can be used to describe how Michigan football has been doing through the first five weeks of the 2026 season.
