ByWendy Daughenbaugh Alchemize Fightwear is a business born of deep personal need. Founder & CEO, Maya Nazareth, had taken up Brazilian jiu-jitsu class when she was 16 years old. A victim of bullying and sexual assault, she says Jiu-Jitsu made her feel empowered and helped her heal. However, the clothing-designed for male bodies-didn't fit properly, and she often found herself exposed on the mat. And so she started interviewing other female fighters and launched Alchemize Fightwear at the age of 20.

"If I have food on my table, I want to make sure my friends and neighbors also have food on their table," said Cooper. "I get up about 5(a.m.) to drive an hour to come down here to help out," Cooper says.
