Biodegradability assessment of chemically washed oily sludge using indigenous bacterial isolates
Abstract Chemical hot washing can substantially reduce the petroleum content of oily sludge, but residual petroleum hydrocarbons remain and require further treatment. Whether these residual hydrocarbons retain sufficient biodegradability for subsequent biological treatment, and what characteristics of the residual hydrocarbons and indigenous microorganisms are associated with their biodegradability, remain insufficiently understood.
First-generation monovalent vaccines blocked transmission of Delta and Omicron variants of SARS-CoV-2 in China
Abstract While effectiveness of monovalent inactivated SARS-CoV-2 vaccines on preventing infection and severe disease has been well-characterized, their effectiveness on reducing infectivity of infected individuals and thereby blocking onward transmission to close contacts remains poorly understood.
MoCl 5 -mediated dual-track regulation unlocks high-voltage ether-based quasi-solid-state electrolytes
Abstract INTRODUCTION RESULTS DISCUSSION MATERIALS AND METHODS Acknowledgments Supplementary Materials REFERENCES Information & Authors Metrics & Citations View Options References Figures Tables Media Share Abstract In situ–polymerized 1,3-dioxolane (DOL) electrolytes offer a promising route to quasi-solid-state lithium metal batteries (QSSLMBs), yet their limited oxidative tolerance and unstable electrode interfaces restrict high-voltage operation.
Overcoming redox barriers in black phosphorus negative electrodes through lattice P–N engineering for fast-charging Li-ion batteries
Abstract Electrochemical energy storage devices commonly face a trade-off between specific energy and power capability. Black phosphorus offers a high theoretical capacity of 2596 mA h g−1, but its practical application is limited by slow reaction kinetics during multiphase phosphorus redox processes. These sluggish transformations, involving bond rearrangement and soluble intermediates, hinder fast charging and compromise cycling stability.
Ubenimex synergizes with the PD-L1 blockade in gastric cancer by competitively binding LAP3 with UBE3A - Cell Death & Disease
Abstract Immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs), particularly PD-1/PD-L1 blockade, represent a cornerstone of treatment for advanced gastric cancer (GC). However, their clinical efficacy is hampered by low response rates and the development of both primary and acquired resistance, underscoring the need for innovative combination therapies.

Aryl sulfur ligand-modulated silver catalysts with tailored binding affinity for selective nitrate-to-ammonia conversion - Nature Communications
Abstract Manipulating the selectivity-determining step in the hydrogenation of nitrogen-containing intermediates is critical to achieving high ammonia selectivity in electrocatalytic nitrate reduction. Here, we propose a molecular interface engineering strategy that functionalized with thiol-anchored aromatic ligands to regulate the interfacial binding affinity and activation of key nitrogen-containing intermediates on silver nanocube surfaces.

Mebendazole inhibits PELI3-mediated ubiquitination of TRADD in non-small cell lung cancer cells
Introduction As the primary cause of cancer-related deaths, lung cancer demonstrates the highest mortality rates in both women and men (1, 2). Non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC) is often diagnosed at advanced stages and accounts for over 80% of lung cancer. The increasing incidence and mortality of NSCLC pose an immense burden to public health challenges (3). NSCLC is primarily resected with curative intent and is not sensitive to adjuvant chemotherapy when compared with small-cell lung cancer (4).

Cooperative spin alignment enhances dimerization in the electrochemical ammonia oxidation reaction - Nature Chemistry
Abstract Ammonia has recently attracted growing attention as a promising hydrogen carrier because it can be liquefied and stored in bulk under mild conditions. To fully harness its potential, more efforts are needed to elucidate and control the mechanisms of its decomposition. Here we show that intermediate dimerization processes proceed through a cooperative spin alignment effect between intermediates and can be promoted by the magnetic ordering rearrangement of magnetic substrates.

Built‐In Electric Field in 2D/2D LDH/Antimonene Heterostructure to Induce Stable β‐NiOOH at Ultralow Potential for Cost‐Effective Water Electrolysis
1 Introduction Electrochemical water splitting is considered as one of the most cost-effective and clean solutions for green hydrogen production, but its efficiency is still limited by the sluggish kinetics of anodic oxygen evolution reaction (OER) and cathodic hydrogen evolution reaction (HER).[1] Thus, highly effective and durable electrocatalysts are needed to accelerate each half-reaction.[2] While noble metal-based (Pt, Ir, and Ru) materials offer excellent performance, their high cost...

Mechanocatalytic Hydrogen Generation in Centrosymmetric Barium Dititanate
1 Introduction Mechanocatalysis refers to a catalytic process that applies mechanical forces to activate or accelerate chemical reactions, such as through grinding, milling, or ultrasound.[1] Unlike traditional catalysis, which relies on chemical reagents, mechanocatalysis offers unique advantages in terms of energy efficiency and selectivity, contributing to more sustainable and environmentally friendly chemical reactions, particularly for applications under special circumstances.
Magnetic Field‐induced Disordered Phase of Spinel Oxides for High Battery Performance
Battery materials with different phases often play a pivotal role in determining their performance. For instance, the disordered phase of spinel LiMn1.5Ni0.5O4 (LNMO) is more appealing as high-voltage cathode due to its superior electrochemical performance compared to its ordered counterpart. Various methods have been developed to induce a phase transition from an ordered to a disordered structure.

Variational Bayesian Inference for Quantile Regression Models with Nonignorable Missing Data
1. Introduction Koenker and Bassett [1] introduced the concept of the quantile regression (QR) model. Unlike the linear regression (OLS) model, OLS focuses solely on modeling the mean of the response variable. QR allows us to estimate regression coefficients at different quartiles of the response variable. This enables us to capture the varying degrees of correlation between the covariates and the response variable.

Abstract Water splitting is the most important process for making green hydrogen. The positive effects of ferroelectric polarization in various kinds of water splitting are well recognized, but the study of electrocatalytic water splitting is still in its infancy. Herein, a family of intrinsic ferroelectrics with a flexible tetragonal tungsten bronze structure is chosen to accommodate oxygen evolution reaction (OER) active sites together with its freedom for tuning the ferroelectric polarization.
