Chrysanthemum Morifolium– Derived Nanovesicles Reduce Lactate-Associated Histone Lactylation and Modulate Microglia-Mediated Neuroinflammation in Sepsis-Associated Encephalopathy
1 Introduction Sepsis is an organ dysfunction that is caused by bacterial, fungal, viral, and parasitic infections and accounts for nearly 20% of global mortality [1]. Sepsis-associated encephalopathy (SAE)—a central nervous system complication in patients with sepsis—leads to brain dysfunction due to systemic infection [2]. Reactive microglia contribute to synaptic impairment, neuronal death, and neurogenesis inhibition and thus cause SAE [3, 4].
A Preclinical Multifunctional Capsule Robot with Unified Diagnosis and Targeted Thermal Therapy for Gastrointestinal Diseases
1 Introduction Colorectal and stomach cancers ranked third and fifth, respectively, among all malignancies in terms of global incidence in 2022, posing a significant threat to human health and together accounting for more than 1.5 million deaths worldwide [1]. These substantial disease burdens motivate the continued development of technologies for earlier detection and localized intervention.
Precise DNA base editing using AlphaFold3-based contact modelling
Abstract Achieving high specificity in biochemical transformations is crucial for research and therapeutics. This is particularly important for genome editing, where enhancing tool specificity ensures effective and precise editing outcomes1,2. Current strategies are constrained by activity-specificity trade-offs, high labour intensity and low success rates3,4.
Historical Contingency Drives Freshwater Microbial Community Assembly Across Successional Time
1 Introduction Microorganisms are fundamental components of freshwater ecosystems, where they regulate organic matter turnover, nutrient cycling, and overall ecosystem functioning (Battin et al. 2016; Falkowski et al. 2008). Consequently, the assembly of freshwater microbial communities has attracted increasing interest, particularly in the context of environmental change, biodiversity loss, and ecosystem restoration (Hester et al. 2021; Savio et al. 2015).
Strand-asymmetric G-runs and G4s downstream of TSS modulate tumor suppressor gene transcription
Abstract A genome sequence is not made up of random nucleotides. Instead, it has distinctive features for evolutionary adaptation. Herein, we identified a higher frequency of continuous guanines (G-runs) located downstream of the transcription start site (TSS) in the non-template strand than that of the template strand by analyzing the genomic region around TSS (TSS ± 1 kb) across different species. G-runs are known to have the propensity to form G-quadruplex structures (G4).

INHBA: a mitochondrial-related pan-cell death gene associated with the prognosis and immunity of OSCC - Scientific Reports
Abstract Oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) is a malignant tumor characterized by both clinical and molecular heterogeneity. Its rising global incidence and mortality rates pose considerable clinical challenges. Accumulating evidence suggests that dysregulation of mitochondria-associated pan-cell death, a process integrating multiple mitochondrial-related cell death modalities, is closely linked to tumor initiation and progression.
Development and validation of a prognostic model and scoring system for in-hospital mortality risk in neonates with heart failure within 28 days: a multicenter retrospective case-control study | Scientific Reports
Abstract Neonatal heart failure is a severe condition with high mortality, posing a significant burden on families and healthcare systems. Early prediction of mortality risk is crucial for improving outcomes. To develop and validate a predictive model and scoring system for in-hospital mortality within 28 days in neonates with heart failure.
Elemene Augments the Effects of Anti‐PD‐1 Immunotherapy on Hepatocellular Carcinoma by Regulating the miR‐130a‐5p/SPP/MHC‐I Axis
1 Introduction Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is the third leading cause of cancer-related death worldwide.[1, 2] Owing to the lack of typical symptoms, more than two-thirds of HCC patients have progressed to advanced stages at the time of diagnosis, and the 5-year survival rate is less than 15%.[3, 4] Systemic therapies, including immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs), have been applied to patients with inoperable advanced HCC.[5, 6] In general, ICIs reactivate anticancer immune responses by...

MED26-enriched condensates drive erythropoiesis through modulating transcription pausing
Abstract The Mediator complex regulates various aspects of hematopoietic development, but whether composition of the Mediator complex undergoes dynamic changes for diversifying transcription and functional outputs is unknown. Here, we found that MED26, a subunit in the core Mediator complex, played a distinctive role in facilitating transcription pausing essential for erythroid development. While most Mediator subunits drastically decreased during this process, MED26 remained relatively abundant.

Boronic Ester Based Vitrimers with Enhanced Stability via Internal Boron-Nitrogen Coordination
Boron-containing polymers have many applications resulting from their prominent properties. Organoboron species with reversible B–O bonds have been successfully employed for the fabrication of various self-healing/healable and reprocessable polymers. However, the application of the polymers containing boronic ester or boroxine linkages is limited because of their instability to water.
