Mitochondrial calcium influx-driven bioenergetics selectively enable drug addiction
Abstract Addictive substances hijack the brain’s reward system, driving pathological dopamine surges that underlie compulsive behavior and addiction. However, directly targeting dopamine signaling for treatment risks disrupting natural reward processes. Here we identify a bioenergetic mechanism that selectively promotes addiction-related dopamine release and behaviors.
A multi-scale assessment of topographic anisotropy on Land Surface Emissivity and Temperature retrieval over the Yarlung Tsangpo River basin
ABSTRACT Accurate Land Surface Temperature (LST) retrieval is critical for monitoring cryospheric and hydrological processes, yet standard algorithms often fail in rugged terrain by neglecting directional Land Surface Emissivity (LSE) effects. This study quantified the impact of terrain-induced LSE anisotropy on LST estimation across the topographically complex Yarlung Tsangpo River Basin (YTRB).

A gapless 100 m resolution daily mean land surface temperature dataset over the Tibetan Plateau in 2019
Abstract The Tibetan Plateau (TP), known as the “Third Pole”, is highly sensitive to climate change. Fine-scale daily mean land surface temperature (DMLST) data are needed to study regional climate processes, permafrost dynamics, glacier melt, and land surface energy balance. However, existing DMLST products over the TP generally have spatial resolutions of 1 km to 0.05°, which are too coarse to resolve local processes in glacier forefields, permafrost slopes, and other heterogeneous landscapes.

Implementing the EIA provisions of the BBNJ Agreement in the international seabed area: obstacles and recommendations
Abstract While the Biodiversity Beyond National Jurisdiction (BBNJ) Agreement establishes a comprehensive environmental impact assessment (EIA) regime, its application of the EIA provisions to the international seabed area (the Area) presents significant challenges. First, International Seabed Authority (ISA) Member States have differing ratification and signature statuses regarding the BBNJ Agreement, leading to fragmented and asymmetrical obligations.
Joint Association of Diet Index for Gut Microbiota and MVPA With Central Obesity: The Mediating Role of Biological Age
1 Introduction In the United States, the prevalence of obesity has been consistently rising, with significant disparities across different socio-economic and geographic groups. In the United States, 69% of adults are overweight or have obesity, and the global prevalence of obesity is increasing, with profound implications for healthcare systems and mortality rates (Wang et al. 2020; Malcolm et al. 2018). Obesity, especially central obesity, is closely associated with various adverse health outcomes.

Rifampicin-induced challenges in managing endocrine hypertension and primary aldosteronism: a case report and literature review
Introduction Resistant hypertension (RHTN), a severe form of hypertension, is more likely to cause target organ damage and has a poor prognosis. It includes Endocrine hypertension (EH), where elevated blood pressure (BP) is closely linked to hormone secretion, most commonly due to adrenal diseases such as Primary aldosteronism (PA). Additionally, numerous factors influence the diagnosis and treatment of EH, including drug-drug interactions (DDIs).

Two‐Way Gateway Designs to Allow Free Movement Between Safe Havens for Bettongs: A Captive Trial
1 Introduction Introduced predators such as feral cats (Felis catus) and red foxes (Vulpes vulpes) have negatively impacted Australian native flora and fauna (Woinarski et al. 2015; Legge et al. 2017; Jessop et al. 2021; Stobo-Wilson et al. 2022). Cats alone (domestic, feral and unowned) are responsible for the estimated loss of 459 million native Australian mammals annually (Murphy et al. 2019).

TRβ activation confers AT2-to-AT1 cell differentiation and anti-fibrosis during lung repair via KLF2 and CEBPA - Nature Communications
Abstract Aberrant repair underlies the pathogenesis of pulmonary fibrosis while effective strategies to convert fibrosis to normal regeneration are scarce. Here, we found that thyroid hormone is decreased in multiple models of lung injury but is essential for lung regeneration. Moreover, thyroid hormone receptor α (TRα) promotes cell proliferation, while TRβ fuels cell maturation in lung regeneration.

Association between allometric body shape indices and osteoporosis in | IJWH
Introduction Osteoporosis is a significant public health concern, characterized by reduced bone mass and micro-architectural deterioration of bone tissue, leading to increased bone fragility and susceptibility to fractures.1 Particularly among menopausal women, estrogen levels decline, precipitating dysregulation in bone remodeling processes, thereby accelerating bone loss and the deterioration of bone microarchitecture.1,2 According to the International Osteoporosis Foundation, one in three...
Does Urbanization Exacerbate Asymmetrical Changes in Precipitation at Divergent Time Scales in China?
1 Introduction The spatiotemporal variability of precipitation substantially affects human society and ecosystems (Kotz et al., 2022; Seddon et al., 2016). Global-climate-model simulations and observational data have shown that global warming has altered the frequency and intensity of precipitation events from the global to regional scales (Alexander et al., 2006; Doan et al., 2022; Lu et al., 2020), which may further cause more extreme precipitation events (O'Gorman & Schneider, 2009).

Magneto-optical studies of organic electroluminescent materials having fast reverse intersystem crossing
In thermally activated delayed-fluorescence (TADF) materials, the fluorescence efficiency is enhanced through reverse intersystem crossing (RISC) from triplet to singlet excitons. The performance of organic light-emitting devices (OLEDs) based on TADF materials highly depends on the thermal conversion efficiency of the lowest triplet exciton T1 into the lowest singlet exciton S1, which relates to the energy difference ΔES1−T1.
