Intermolecular decoupling of C 60 suppresses interfacial recombination in perovskite solar cells
Abstract Interfacial non-radiative recombination, particularly at the C60 electron-selective contact, remains a major bottleneck limiting the performance of inverted perovskite solar cells. While previous efforts have primarily focused on passivating trap states at the perovskite surface, the underlying mechanism by which fullerene-based electron transport layers induce interfacial recombination has remained unclear.

Thermally evaporated perovskite/silicon tandems via formamidinium eutectic
|
Abstract Solution processing remains the dominant route to high-performance perovskite/silicon tandems, but it remains challenging to simultaneously achieve industrial scalability and long-term reliability.1-3 Thermal evaporation is more industrially viable, yet it has not been successfully demonstrated for large-area perovskite/Si tandems, largely due to the thermal degradation of formamidinium iodide (FAI) during high-temperature evaporation.

1 Introduction Thrombotic diseases, predominantly encompassing cerebral infarction, pulmonary embolism, and myocardial infarction, remain a persistent global health challenge, characterized by over 30% of annual deaths worldwide and imposing substantial clinical burdens (Figure 1A) [1, 2]. Crystallinity-guided hybrid conversion for efficient ultrawide-bandgap perovskites in triple-junction solar cells
|
Abstract Hybrid two-step deposition offers a scalable route for fabricating metal halide perovskites in tandem architectures, particularly for achieving excellent conformality on textured substrates. However, using this approach for ultrawide-bandgap perovskites (>1.85 eV) remains a fundamental challenge, due to issues of incomplete conversion and inhomogeneous crystallization.

Abstract The development of high-performance perovskite–organic tandem solar cells has been impeded by the scarcity of efficient narrow-bandgap small-molecule acceptors. Realizing such materials requires overcoming the energy gap law to minimize the energy loss and simultaneously optimizing the donor–acceptor phase separation.
Dimensional control of low-dimensional perovskite hybrids for photovoltaics

Additive-assisted perovskite crystallization on industrial TOPCon silicon for tandem solar cells with improved efficiency
|
Abstract Thin silicon wafers used in tunnel oxide passivated contact tandem solar cells have reduced thermal mass and higher thermal conductivity, which accelerate heat transfer during perovskite subcell deposition. This rapid heat transfer induces fast crystallization of the perovskite layer, compromising film quality and tandem performance. Here we introduce 2-mercaptobenzothiazole, which exhibits dual-mode binding with perovskite organic cations, to modulate crystallization dynamics.

Illumination-assisted annealing enables selenium solar cells with open-circuit voltage over 1 V and efficiency exceeding 10% - Nature Energy
Abstract Selenium (Se), the world’s oldest photovoltaic material, is experiencing a resurgence in interest due to its intrinsic wide bandgap of approximately 1.9 eV, making it an ideal photoabsorber for the top cell in tandem solar cells and for indoor photovoltaics. However, the power conversion efficiency of Se solar cells remains constrained by severe non-radiative recombination losses caused by the small grain size (~500 nm) of conventionally thermally annealed Se films.

Yttrium oxide engineered substrate enables improved durability for perovskite solar cells - Nature Communications
Abstract Transparent conductive oxides (TCOs)—foundation of perovskite solar cells (PSCs)—have long been assumed to be stable, and thus their impact on device longevity is frequently overlooked. Herein, we unveil that fluorine doped tin oxide (FTO) suffers from instability under operational stress, exacerbating PSC stability issue.
Engineering bonding sites enables uniform and robust self-assembled monolayer for stable perovskite solar cells - Nature Materials
Abstract The efficiency of perovskite solar cells has recently been dramatically improved by a self-assembled monolayer (SAM), but forming uniform, dense and especially stable SAM remains a challenge. The hydroxyl groups on indium tin oxide (ITO) serve as the bonding sites for the SAM molecule, directly determining the distribution and anchoring stability of SAM. We developed a solution-based strategy to fully hydroxylate the ITO in as fast as 15 s.

Nucleolar Pol II interactome reveals TBPL1, PAF1, and Pol I at intergenic rDNA drive rRNA biogenesis
Abstract Nucleolar ribosomal DNA (rDNA) repeats control ribosome manufacturing. rDNA harbors a ribosomal RNA (rRNA) gene and an intergenic spacer (IGS). RNA polymerase (Pol) I transcribes rRNA genes yielding the rRNA components of ribosomes. Pol II at the IGS induces rRNA production by preventing Pol I from excessively synthesizing IGS non-coding RNAs (ncRNAs) that can disrupt nucleoli. At the IGS, Pol II regulatory processes and whether Pol I function can be beneficial remain unknown.
