Mutually beneficial interactions between bacteria and Arabidopsis promote phosphorus nutrition and growth
The space surrounding the root includes the rhizoplane and rhizosphere that are occupied by different bacterial communities, suggesting that they are functionally distinct compartments.51 The rhizoplane refers to the root surface, which typically includes the root epidermis, root cap, and their mucilage, whereas the rhizosphere refers to soil (agar medium in this study) that closely surrounds the rhizoplane.52,53 In theory, diffusion of root exudates may fuel bacterial growth and P...
Main text (Cell Metabolism 35, 84–100.e1–e8; January 3, 2023) In the original version of this article, an incorrect image was inadvertently used for Figure 3D (non-LAR DMSO). This error occurred during figure assembly, when the intended panel for the non-LAR DMSO group was mistakenly replaced with a pre-dosing image of the non-LAR RSL3 group. In addition, we have corrected annotation omissions and copy-paste errors in Data S1 pertaining to Figures 3 and S6.

Highly efficient activation of ferrate (VI) via corncob biochar assisted by electrochemistry for the removal of sulfamethoxazole from water
Sulfamethoxazole (SMX), a widely utilized bacteriostatic antibiotic, has played a pivotal role in effectively treating diseases caused by bacteria [1]. Over the past few decades, global production and usage of sulfonamide antibiotics, such as SMX, have witnessed a considerable rise for both human and veterinary applications [2]. However, duo to its limited bioavailability in humans and animals, only about 10–50 % of the administered dose was metabolized [3].
Comprehensive analysis of syngas-derived Fischer-Tropsch synthesis using iron-based catalysts with varied acidities
With the pressing issue of addressing climate change and limiting global temperature increase to 1.5 °C by 2050, achieving net-zero emissions has become an urgent priority [1]. Considering renewable energy faces technical challenges and may not have a significant impact on energy supply, fossil fuels are expected to continue dominating the global chemical industry in the near future [2], [3].

Synthesis of Carbinoxamine via a-C(sp3)-H 2-pyridylation of O, S or N-containing compounds enabled by non-D-A-type super organoreductant and sulfoxide- or sulfide-HAT-reagents
Synthesis of Carbinoxamine via a-C(sp3)-H 2-pyridylation of O, S or N-containing compounds enabled by non-D-A-type super organoreductant and sulfoxide- or sulfide-HAT-reagents Xian-Chao Cui, Hu Zhang, Yi-Ping Wang, Jian-Ping Qu and Yan-Biao Kang Abstract The radical cations of tertary amines (R3N) have been well-established as the precursors of HAT reagents in the photochemical transformations. Similarly, thiols and thioacids bearing SH-groups have also been widely applied as HAT reagents.
Malic enzyme 2 connects the Krebs cycle intermediate fumarate to mitochondrial biogenesis
Highlights • Fumarate promotes monomer-to-dimer transition of ME2 to enhance mitobiogenesis • ME2 dimers activate DUT to foster thymidine generation and an increase of mtDNA • ME2 dimers relieve MRPL45 inhibition to enable mitochondrial protein production • ME2 methylation by PRMT1 inhibits dimerization and delays leukemia progression Summary Mitochondria have an independent genome (mtDNA) and protein synthesis machinery that coordinately activate for mitochondrial generation.

Metabolite sensing and signaling in Cancer
Abstract Metabolites are not only substrates in metabolic reactions, but also signaling molecules controlling a wide range of cellular processes. Discovery of the oncometabolite 2-hydroxyglutarate (2HG) provides an important link between metabolic dysfunction and cancer, unveiling the signaling function of metabolites in regulating epigenetic and epitranscriptomic modifications, genome integrity, and signal transduction.
BCAT2-mediated BCAA catabolism is critical for development of pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma
Abstract Branched-chain amino acid (BCAA) metabolism is potentially linked with development of pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC)1,2,3,4. BCAA transaminase 2 (BCAT2) was essential for the collateral lethality conferred by deletion of malic enzymes in PDAC and the BCAA–BCAT metabolic pathway contributed to non-small-cell lung carcinomas (NSCLCs) other than PDAC3,4. However, the underlying mechanism remains undefined. Here we reveal that BCAT2 is elevated in mouse models and in human PDAC.
