Long-term association of the triglyceride-glucose index with cardiovascular involvement in systemic lupus erythematosus: a retrospective cohort study
Patients with SLE experience substantially increased cardiovascular morbidity and mortality that cannot be fully explained by traditional cardiovascular risk factors alone. The triglyceride-glucose (TyG) index is a simple and inexpensive surrogate marker of insulin resistance and has been associated with cardiovascular events in the general population and several chronic inflammatory diseases.

Computer Science > Artificial Intelligence
Existing retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) systems treat web pages as flat text, losing the structural and semantic signals encoded in HTML. We present PolyUQuest, a verifiable, structure-aware web RAG framework built on a heterogeneous graph that unifies hyperlink topology between pages, DOM hierarchy within pages, and entity-relation knowledge across pages.
Small interfering RNA-mediated silencing of mutant NPM1 suppresses acute myeloid leukemia via reversing KAT7 and p300-mediated histone acetylation
Abstract NPM1 mutation (NPM1c)-driven acute myeloid leukemia (AML) is characterized by the sequestration of nuclear proteins and chromatin hijacking. Current treatment strategies targeting NPM1c AML are often indirect, which might lead to toxicity and resistance. In this study, we developed an allele-specific siRNA that selectively silences NPM1c while preserving the function of wild-type NPM1.
Evaluating AI in leukocyte classification: performance of the AI system against 15 morphology experts
Abstract Artificial intelligence (AI)-based digital morphology analyzers are vital for clinical hematology but face critical challenges in identifying immature granulocytes and atypical cells. This study validated the MC-100i AI system against 15 morphologists, with an additional 3 senior experts establishing a gold standard, to assess performance gaps and clinical utility.

Lactate-mediated macrophage polarization promotes splenomegaly in acute erythroleukemia
Abstract Acute erythroleukemia (AEL) is a rare and highly aggressive subtype of acute myeloid leukemia (AML) that is often accompanied by splenomegaly in some patients. Using the Friend murine leukemia virus clone 57 (F-MuLV clone 57) mouse model, we observed lactate accumulation in the spleens of mice with late-stage disease. Proteomic profiling indicated dysregulation of the glycolysis/gluconeogenesis pathway and aberrant activity of its key enzymes.

EGFR activation sensitizes trigeminal NMDA receptors to promote pain and morphine analgesic tolerance in oral cancer
Editor’s summary Opioids are used to treat the severe pain caused by oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC), but tolerance frequently develops. Liu et al. found that inhibitors of the growth factor receptor EGFR, to which OSCC develop resistance, might instead be used to treat the associated pain by targeting tumor-adjacent neurons. In samples from patients and mouse models, EGFR ligands were abundant in OSCC and nearby glial cells.

Multi-gradient permutation survival analysis identifies mitosis and immune signatures steadily associated with cancer patient prognosis
eLife Assessment This paper contains valuable ideas for methodology concerned with the identification of genes associated with disease prognosis in a broad range of cancers. However, there are concerns that the statistical properties of MEMORY are incompletely investigated and described. Further, more precise details about the implementation of the method would increase the replicability of the findings by other researchers.

Engineering prime editors in Salvia miltiorrhiza for precise genome modification
Salvia miltiorrhiza (Danshen), a key model for medicinal plant biosynthesis, has enabled CRISPR/Cas9-mediated gene knockout, but precise genome editing remains challenging (Cao et al., 2024). Base editors (BEs), Cas9 fusions with cytosine (C) or adenine (A) deaminases, enable C-to-T/A-to-G transitions but are limited by narrow windows and specific substitutions.
Development and application of base editing systems in Salvia miltiorrhiza for precise metabolic engineering
Salvia miltiorrhiza (Danshen), a key traditional medicinal plant for treating cardiovascular, inflammatory and oncological diseases (Zheng et al., 2023). While CRISPR/Cas-mediated knockout enables gene disruptions in Danshen, precision base editing remains limited (Hsu et al., 2024). This study aimed to develop highly efficient adenine (A) and cytosine (C) base editors (ABEs and CBEs) for A-to-G or C-to-T conversions.
“This Doesn’t Feel Like Genshin Anymore”
Five minutes into playing the 5.7 Archon Quest “A Space and Time for You,” I felt like quitting Genshin for the second time. The introduction to the quest profoundly reshaped the game’s lore and permanently shattered my immersion and trust in Genshin’s directors. I struggled to find the motivation to complete the quest afterwards. This article is about how that happened, why Genshin is technically not a fantasy game, and if the story can still be saved.
The Irritating Tale of Imaginarium Theater
A frequent complaint that Genshin Impact began running into after it released was the lack of endgame content. There was the Spiral Abyss, but for years, that was about it. If you finished the story quests and events, those bimonthly four combat challenges were all that was left for you.
Does low-intensity CBT help improve comorbid mental disorders in adults with autism?
‘Is it more challenging to treat mental illnesses in autistic individuals than those without autism?’ This might be a common difficulty that many therapists encounter while treating autistic clients with comorbidity. Worldwide, it is estimated that around 1 in 100 of the total population is diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) according to the DSM-5 criteria (WHO, 2023).
Time for a market upgrade? A review of wholesale electricity market designs for the future
Resource adequacy refers to the ability of the electricity system to meet the electricity demand of end-use customers at all times, accounting for scheduled and reasonably expected unscheduled outages of system elements and subject to standard industry targets for loss of load, such as the “one day in ten year” loss of load expectation (NERC, 2023; NREL, 2024). Electric utilities manage resource procurement and are responsible for maintaining resource adequacy (NARUC, 2023).
Actually, Party Play Just Sucks
Note: I stumbled upon this article in my drafts section from around 2024, and I acknowledge it’s now 2025. However, I think my main points still apply. Party Play (or Parties for short) was a new feature added to Pokémon GO in 2023. It allows for up to 4 Trainers to create a Party and play Pokémon GO together, completing various challenges along the way. As I knew few Pokémon GO players at my school, I only had the chance to try Parties out when I returned home for winter break.

Multi-gradient Permutation Survival Analysis Identifies Mitosis and Immune Signatures Steadily Associated with Cancer Patient Prognosis
Abstract The inconsistency of the association between genes and cancer prognosis is often attributed to many variables that contribute to patient survival. Whether there exist the Genes Steadily Associated with Prognosis (GEARs) and what their functions are remain largely elusive. We have developed a novel method called "Multi-gradient Permutation Survival Analysis " (MEMORY) to screen the GEARs using RNA-seq data from the TCGA database.
An Active Flow Control over the Ship Deck for Helicopter Shipboard Operations
1. Introduction Shipboard helicopter operation accidents mainly occur in the landing stage since landing a helicopter on the small ship deck such as a frigate is a difficult and demanding task for even the most experienced pilots because it is not easy to fully anticipate the aft airwake phenomenon. In addition to operating in a restricted landing zone, the helicopter also suffers from ship airwake caused by the airflow around the ship superstructure.

Dear Niantic, When Can I Trade Remotely?
DISCLAIMER: THIS IS A THOUGHT EXERCISE DONE FOR FUN. I DO NOT WORK FOR NIANTIC, AND I DOUBT REMOTE TRADING IS COMING ANYTIME SOON. Near the end of 2022, the Scale Pokémon Vivillon made its Pokémon GO debut. To obtain Vivillon's various patterns, you have to pin postcards from friends across the world. After pinning enough postcards of a certain region, you will encounter a Scatterbug, which you then have to evolve.
