RNF213 marks a regulatory T-cell subset associated with ulcerative colitis
Abstract Background: Ulcerative colitis (UC) is a nonspecific autoimmune disease, the etiology and pathogenesis of which remain unclear. Identifying new disease targets could inform clinical diagnosis and treatment. Methods: We integrated single-cell RNA sequencing (scRNA-seq) and bulk transcriptome data from UC patients. We screened key biomarkers and constructed a nomogram diagnostic model through three machine learning algorithms (LASSO, SVM-RFE, and Boruta).
Identification of antimicrobial peptides from ancient gut microbiomes - Nature Communications
Abstract Fecal coprolites preserve ancient microbiomes and are a potential source of extinct but highly efficacious antimicrobial peptides (AMPs). Here, we develop AMPLiT (AMP Lightweight Identification Tool), an efficient tool deployable to portable hardware for AMP screening in metagenomic datasets. AMPLiT demonstrates AUPRC performances of 0.9486 ± 0.0003 and reasonable overall training time of 3200 ± 53 s.
