Raised all over in the Army, I took my post-secondary education at the University of Kansas.

In school I covered the breadth of informative media –– managing radio programming, producing TV news/sports, and writing features/columns/stories for the University Daily Kansan.

After graduating I worked at the Havre Daily News, in Havre, Mont., where, aside from writing multiple stories a day in a variety of lengths/subjects/publications, I made numerous efforts to digitize the newsroom, both intern…

What was your first job as a journalist?

I started as a founder of my high school paper. I was first paid as a writer for a student life magazine called Chalk.

Have you ever used a typewriter?

Most definitely. I own several, partly for aesthetics, and partly for my doomsday prepping. Read any Kaczynski?

How is social media changing news?

It's faster, shorter and farther-reaching. Opinions, half-truths and lies are the same. News needs more defense now.
