An annotated genome of freshwater amphipod ( Gammarus nekkensis )
Abstract Freshwater Gammarus species represent important keystone organisms in aquatic ecosystems, and are sensitive to environmental changes. Here, we present the first pseudo-chromosome-level genome of Gammarus nekkensis, endemic to north China. We integrated PacBio HiFi long-read sequencing, Illumina short-read sequencing, and Hi-C scaffolding to generate a high-quality, pseudo-chromosome-scale genome assembly.
Clan ties, collective minds: the persistent impact of Chinese kinship structures on modern collectivism
Abstract Cultural psychology identifies the individualism–collectivism (I/C) framework as a core cultural dimension for explaining variation in human behaviour. Previous research on cultural evolution has focused mainly on ecological factors, while the contribution of social structures has received less attention.
Influence of onset time on in-hospital outcomes in patients with acute intracerebral hemorrhage in China
Abstract The impact of intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH) onset time (night vs. day) on in-hospital mortality, in-hospital complications, and early functional outcomes remains inconclusive. This study aimed to explore the associations between night and day ICH onset and these critical endpoints. Using data extracted from the China Stroke Center Alliance, this cohort study included 81,913 patients within 24 h of ICH onset.
Intradiscal platelet-rich plasma for discogenic low back pain: a prospective cohort study of early clinical outcomes and quantitative MRI findings
Abstract Discogenic low back pain (DLBP) is a major cause of disability. Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) has shown regenerative potential in preclinical models, but clinical results remain heterogeneous and early biological responses in humans are incompletely understood. We conducted a prospective cohort study (November 2023–October 2024) to evaluate early clinical outcomes and quantitative MRI (qMRI) changes after intradiscal PRP injection for DLBP.
Composite 3D-Printed Scaffold Based on Glucosamine-Loaded Hyaluronic Acid Methacrylate for Osteochondral Regeneration
Abstract Click to copy section linkSection link copied! Full-thickness osteochondral defects demand the concurrent restoration of cartilage and subchondral bone. Here, hyaluronic acid methacrylate (HAMA) scaffolds were three-dimensional (3D)-printed with in situ photocuring and formulated with glucosamine (GlcN) at different concentrations; 5 mg·mL–1 was identified as optimal. This formulation preserved print fidelity and curing, while yielding a compliant, continuous network.
Aging Out of Medicaid Coverage and Survival After Pediatric Liver Transplant
In the absence of universal health care, the recent passage of the One Big Beautiful Bill Act has stirred national concern over Medicaid funding reductions expected to leave millions of US individuals without health insurance.1 Pediatric liver transplant recipients on Medicaid have long faced a comparable coverage disruption: upon turning 19 years old, the loss of child Medicaid eligibility nearly triples the uninsured rate compared to age 18 years.2 This coverage drop is especially critical...
Clinical Efficacy of Hydrocolloid Versus Liquid Dressings for Incontin

Connecting generations: an integrative review of intergenerational technology programs and older adults’ technology use
ABSTRACT Older adults have adopted new information technologies at lower rates than their younger counterparts. This is a concern as the integration of information technologies into society continues to advance, while older adults are among those who can potentially reap the greatest benefits from these technologies. Intergenerational Programs (IGPs), which pair older and younger adults for learning and socializing, are strong vehicles for countering the age usage gap.

Eradicating fungal biofilm-based infections by ultrasound-assisted semiconductor sensitized upconversion photodynamic therapy - Nature Communications
Abstract Fungal biofilms, as self-produced extracellular polymeric substances that resist antifungal agents and immune defense, represent a major cause of treatment failure and recurrent infections. Therefore, it is of great importance to eradicate fungal biofilms to achieve efficient therapy. This study develops a synergistic reactive oxygen species (ROS)-enhanced strategy to eradicate Candida albicans biofilms by designing ultrasound-light dual-responsive nanohybrids (UCNP@CR).

Histone Deacetylase Inhibitor Largazole Deactivates A Subset of Superenchancers and Causes Mitotic Chromosome Mis-alignment by Suppressing SP1 and BRD4
Abstract Histone deacetylase inhibitors (HDIs) have been investigated as potential therapeutic agents for cancer and other diseases. HDIs are known to promote histone acetylation, resulting in an open chromatin conformation and generally increased gene expression. In previous work, we reported that a subset of genes, particularly those regulated by superenhancers, can be suppressed by the HDAC inhibitor largazole.

Viral infection induces inflammatory signals that coordinate YAP regulation of dysplastic cells in lung alveoli
Abstract Severe viral pneumonia can induce rapid expansion of KRT5+ basal-like cells in small airways and alveoli; this forms a scar-like structure that persists in the injured alveoli and impedes normal alveolar epithelium regeneration. In this study, we investigated the mechanism by which viral infection induced this remodeling response. Through comparing different lung-injury models, we demonstrated that infection induced strong IFN-γ signal–stimulated dysplastic KRT5+ cell formation.

DoS-resistant Oblivious Message Retrieval from Snake-eye Resistant PKE
Paper 2024/510 , Yale University , Yale University , Boston University , Yale University Oblivious message retrieval (OMR) allows messages resource-limited recipients to outsource the message retrieval process without revealing which messages are pertinent to which recipient. Its realizations in recent works leave an open problem: can an OMR scheme be both practical and provably secure against spamming attacks from malicious senders (i.e., DoS-resistant) under standard assumptions?

PerfOMR: Oblivious Message Retrieval with Reduced Communication and Computation
Paper 2024/204 , Yale University , Boston University , Yale University Anonymous message delivery, as in privacy-preserving blockchain and private messaging applications, needs to protect recipient metadata: eavesdroppers should not be able to link messages to their recipients. This raises the question: how can untrusted servers assist in delivering the pertinent messages to each recipient, without learning which messages are addressed to whom?
Signature of Scramblon Effective Field Theory in Random Spin Models
Information scrambling refers to the propagation of information throughout a quantum system. Its study not only contributes to our understanding of thermalization but also has wide implications in quantum information and black hole physics. Recent studies suggest that information scrambling in large-N systems with all-to-all interactions is mediated by collective modes called scramblons. However, a criterion for the validity of scramblon theory in a specific model is still missing.
Relaxed Functional Bootstrapping: A New Perspective on BGV/BFV Bootstrapping
Paper 2024/172 , Yale University , Yale University Abstract BGV and BFV are among the most widely used fully homomorphic encryption (FHE) schemes, supporting evaluations over a finite field. To evaluate a circuit with arbitrary depth, bootstrapping is needed. However, despite the recent progress, bootstrapping of BGV/BFV still remains relatively impractical, compared to other FHE schemes. In this work, we inspect the BGV/BFV bootstrapping procedure from a different angle.

1. Introduction The energy consumption of buildings in China accounts for approximately 30% of the total social energy consumption, while in Europe and OECD countries, this figure exceeds 40% [1,2,3]. This substantial energy usage in buildings significantly contributes to global warming, climate change, and air pollution [4]. The air conditioning system stands out among the energy-consuming components of buildings, responsible for 40–60% of the total energy consumption [5,6].
