(KAKE) - Cleanup in Salina continues as volunteers from all over keep up their mission of clearing Saline County of tree debris following last week’s storm that left devastating damage. “Monday night it looks as though an apocalypse had gone through,” said Michelle Weis, the Saline County Emergency Management director. Weis has been busy tracking hundreds of volunteers as they work to beautify Salina after last Monday night, a storm with winds over 100 mph.

Buhler's city council votes to terminate police chief

Salina begins to recover after over 100 mph winds

Salina, Kan. (KAKE) — The City of Salina is cleaning up and trying to recover from Monday night’s storms, where they faced winds over 100 mph, leaving residents without power. Now, the community is relying on one another. Winds on May 8 topped 113 mph in Saline County, leaving behind a path of destruction. Jason Tiller, director of the Saline County Health Department, said the department's building is serving as a cooling center due to the city's power outage.
