The Baton Rouge Police Department is offering an Equalizer Women's Self-Defense classes starting Monday, March 18. It's happening at the Baton Rouge Police Department Training Academy, located at 9000 Airline Hwy. The class times are from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. for each session.

New housing development coming to Mid City

BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) - City officials celebrated the grand opening of a new affordable workforce housing development in Mid City on Thursday, March 14. The development, named Government Corridor, will include 31 apartments within 34 single and duplex-style homes near Government Street. A large portion of the project was paid for with federal low-income housing tax credits. "Low-income families deserve a quality standard of living," said LHC Executive Director Marjorianna Willman.

Moves and changes ahead for Baker students after completion of new school building

BAKER, La. (WAFB) - You can still see the work that the needs to be done inside Baker High School. The rebuilding of the school comes after it was deemed unusable after the flood of 2016. After eight years of being housed at the middle school's campus, the new high school is only months away from welcoming back students and staff. "There's some community pride, parental pride, getting back and having that school running again," said Superintendent J.T. Stroder.
