Everyone had high praise for Jason Spezza following his game-changing tilt
If you’re a Maple Leafs fan, today is a pretty good day. A great day, in fact. With their backs against the wall, pushed to the point of elimination at the hands of the Columbus Blue Jackets, the Toronto Maple Leafs pulled off the unthinkable: they came back from a 3-0 deficit to rally in the dying minutes of the third period, and then win it in overtime to force a series-deciding Game Five. A lot to unpack, to say the least. Where did this game turn around for the buds?

This Sens fan has 7 recent jerseys and not one player is still on the team
The Ottawa Senators have had a lot of turnaround over the past couple of seasons. There’s no denying that they look like a completely different team in what seems like the blink of an eye, but they definitely boast some of the most exciting young talent in the league. This turnaround could make them one of the best teams in the league very soon, but has also caused some fans of the team to have some very outdated jersey collections, very quickly.
Stone's journey to Calder contender
Mark Stone finally had enough and clicked off the television inside his family’s cabin. He had patiently waited to hear his name called at the 2010 NHL Draft in Los Angeles, but through four rounds, he had yet to be selected. His agent, Craig Oster, had told him not to bother going to the draft in person at the Staples Center because he wasn’t a highly-rated prospect. “I made up my mind pretty quickly that I wasn’t going to go,” recalls Stone.
Senators fans give Mark Stone a lengthy standing ovation in his first game back in Ottawa
The Ottawa Senators struck gold with the 178th overall pick in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft as they used the pick to select Brandon Wheat Kings forward Mark Stone. However, sometimes coming up with a late round steal hurts down the road when the big pay day comes, so as a result the Senators ended up trading Mark Stone to the Vegas Golden Knights at the 2019 trade deadline.
The Sens' Mark Borowiecki went full super hero and stopped a robbery
BarDown Staff (Photo by Andre Ringuette/NHLI via Getty Images) Sometimes, people have a hard time when kids look up to professional athletes as super heroes. Sure, a lot of them are great humans as well as great athletes, but lots of people think they should only be looked up to as the athletes that they are, and not always for their lives outside of the course of play.

When Curtis Lazar's phone rang a couple of weeks ago in Montreal, he wasn't too surprised to hear Evan Marble's voice on the other end. After all, the two have a long-standing relationship dating back to when Marble was his bantam hockey coach. The Senators rookie figured his old coach was going to ask him to be a guest instructor at Marble's Okanogan hockey school this summer. Instead, his mentor delivered a sobering evaluation of Lazar's rookie season to date.

BarDown Staff Andre Ringuette/World Cup of Hockey via Getty Images If you're an NHL player and you're not playing hockey right now, that most likely means your team didn't make the playoffs or has been eliminated. The season is long, but players would much rather have less time to relax in the summer if that means they're playing deep into May and early June. That said, there is still a way for players not in the postseason to keep on playing and they do so at the World Hockey Championship.

Reddit user finds crazy stat that goes against what you may consider logical
“Get the puck to the net”. “Shoot everything”. “You miss all the shots you don’t take”. There are tons of quotes used to highlight the importance of taking shots in hockey. In order to get the puck in the net, you have to shoot. Sometimes players try to get too cute or crafty with their scoring chance, and the extra pass results in the play being broken up before the goalie even has to make a save. You can’t score if you don’t shoot.
Mark Borowiecki explains why he's so confused about latest suspension
Mark Borowiecki was dished out another suspension on Monday after pleading his case to George Parros of the Department of Player Safety. It didn’t help Borowiecki’s case that the latest questionable hit came on the heels of his return from another suspension – a one game ban for an elbow to Urho Vaakanaienen of the Boston Bruins.

Condon hopes to cross Boston start off his NHL bucket list
If you ask Mike Condon to name all the Boston Bruins goalies he watched growing up, he can quickly recite the list off the top of his head: And, of course, Tim Thomas. The 26-year-old Condon lived and breathed Bruins hockey growing up in Massachusetts. “I watched the Bruins games on NESN every single night. I mean, they were the hometown team,” Condon recently told TSN.ca. Condon also attended his fair share of Bruins home games as a fan at TD Garden.

It was important to temper expectations for 2017’s No. 1 overall pick on the heels of two generational-talent draft years, which yielded Connor McDavid and Auston Matthews.
